All right, I'm working on a legends database that will hopefully contain hundreds of renowned players from the history of the game. I've created this thread to receive suggestions on who you'd like to see in the database and eventually post screenshots of my progress. You don't have to send any other info on the player you're suggesting other than who he is and where he played.
 
Well those players are quite obvious, but thanks anyway.

I dont want to sound negative, but have you considered a collaboration with one of the other guys attempting this?

it is a lot of work, and they rarely get completed so working together could only increase the result.
 
I know that I can finish this project eventually by myself, but if anybody wants to collaborate then I don't have anything against it.
 
Suggestions for players that aren't known around the world so well would be appreciated as well.
 
It is a lot of work, but the difficulty is knowing when to stop really. Try to set yourself a number of players to create otherwise it could be never ending. I'm currently working on a legend database with graphics also included, and have done 144 players. It has taken me roughly 6 weeks, and I still have another 150 to do! (I'm much slower than you at editing though Foss)

I'd be interested in seeing any of your screenshots, and I have a list of players that I could send you
 
what about just get rid of all players and have the players from 1966 and the league the clubs were playing in so eg moore, hurst playing for west ham, jimmy armfield playing for blackpool, pele for santos has to be one season so either 1966 or 1970 and no players from today use wiki and other site and check out stats old programs you have in the loft. If your going to do a legends database do it properly., not players from different eras
 
Yeah, just do a couple of hundred players to begin with, then maybe bring updates out every so often.

But here's a few to add...
John Greig, Jim Baxter, Sandy Jardine, Paul Gascgoine, Richard Gough, Ally McCoist, Andy Goram (if you never guessed, they played for Rangers)

Indeed, projects on this scale can be daunting and incredibly time-wasting. A list would be of great help since it would help me decide on who to create.

That would be much harder to create, as nearly not all players from that time have been well documented. It would also cut down the player pool drastically, as obviously not all the greats have played during that period of time. Creating players from different eras is the proper way to create a legend database to me and many others, what you propose is simply a database from a previous season.

I might make a notepad document with the legends for the premier league clubs for you, and see what you can do with that. But i am getting them off the club websites, so some might be from the early 1900s and may be really difficult to create.
