Hi i am currently trying to create a tactic for once and i have picked Chelsea for my creation and i am going to try the Xmas tree formation my attack seems fine but could do with tweaking but my main problem is my fullbacks/wingbacks they get forward and support my attack brilliantly but they are hardly there for defence. Any suggestions screen shot attached.

What are your player instructions for your full backs? A screenshot of that would help as well.

Thats the screen shot above.

Anyone?

Reduce Closing Down to your own half, and just tweak the mentallity a little to normal.

The Player Instructions you have given already seem to be fine, but I would set his Tackling to Normal, as his attacking duties will be enough to compensate a good tackling ratio anyway - he will commit more fouls than usual, and that is quite usual for full backs who have hard tackling on.

For his wide play, if he does get forward, it would also be advisable to make him "Hug Touchline" so that he doesn't wander off somewhere and not come back to defend as well as he should. I also advise this because he doesn't have the PPM where he prefers to dribble down the left hand side, or hug the touchline.

Thanks iNickStuff.

After this i just need to find what works better Short and Slow or Direct and fast :)

Just like JK wrote, I would try to give my Attacking Wingbacks(!) a normal mentality and restrict them from closing down so high up in the pitch.

Not only will the Fullbacks/Wingbacks leave their defenisve duties behind more frequently when on a high mentality but the high closing down in combination with them being high up in the pitch( mentality + fwruns) will - when they do take a defenisve resposabilty - make them close down the oppositions more deep sitting players instead of tracking back, taking a good defensive position before puting pressure their man
