Is loaning a player out for first team football better than having them train and sit in the reserves for you?

I always prefer to loan out a player, with the call-back option. That way he'll get first team action, which definietly is the best solution, plus if I'm gonna need him, I'll just call him back :)

It depends on where you're loaning him out to. The club's facilities matter. If you have the highest level of facilities, many times it indeed is better to keep him with you instead of sending him on loan, where he may not develop as much.

No matter how well they do though it will always say they had a 'mixed spell'.

Im a bit odd and in a longterm save i want success through the whole club,So i wont loan people out..So they win u21s league titles etc haha

Not necessarily. If they do well at the club consistently(and the club wins the games overall), and the facilities are good (not a big drop from yours) then they will not complain or be "happy to return", but if they are forced out on loan to a club with terrible facilities, and do not perform well, they will likely be "happy to return" and have a mixed spell.

To answer the OP - It depends. If it is a young player (16-17) in my U-18 squad, I will likely loan them unless they are promising(4 1/2 stars or 5 stars), then I will keep them at my club, as my facilities are normally better than a club that I will loan him to. If the player is reserves and 18-21(unless has a possibility to play for my club in the first team in cups or something) then I will loan him to a club with facilities similar to mine. If the player is being forced on loan because of a bloated club size or you want to get rid of him, I will accept most offers, no matter the facilities, because he won't play for my team anyways.
If you have been at your club for awhile, and you can choose a feeder team, try to choose one with good facilities in an active league that isn't a big team, so your player will be able to play at a young age. (maybe a belgian/german2/danish team as thats where I seem to find good regens and ones that develop, too).

Like FreakDJ says, it really depends. Do all the stuff he mentioned, plus look at the manager you're loaning the player out to and see what his Working with Youngsters is like. If it's high and you're loaning out of a young player, that will help a lot.
