Loaning players for work permit

I know questions about loaning and work permits have been asked to death but this one is a little different and I couldn't find any posts about it.

ANYWAY

If you send a player on load to a league not loaded in the database (the club has no upcoming matches) will the player still get playing experience? My gut is telling me no.
