Long distance shots

Hey guys.
My players are always trying to shoot from far distance. Of course it is not working and i end up the game with 25 shots. How can I keep them from trying those useless shots ?

9 times out of 10, long shots indicate a problem with your tactics. It means your players are running themselves into cul-de-sacks and have no out-ball so the attack breaks down. They shoot since that's the only option that they can see based on the instructions you gave them.

Players with high creativity and decision making stats will reduce your long shots, more support/defensive roles in midfield/wide areas to help recycle possession when attacks break down and get you players to un-learn "Shoots from distance."

Often it's down to players not having enough options when in the final third, playing with a very high tempo can have a similar result if you're not playing a possession based game.

If you can post up a screenshot of your current tactics to allow people to get an idea of how you play, will help to give people advise on what smaller changes you can do before trying anything larger or just scrapping said tactic all together.

Ok so I am just starting with Monaco.
I played with Newcastle before and with the same tactic. So i thought i would'nt change tactic with Monaco. I bought some (good) players and started the season.
After three games I have one win and two draws. But during the games my players are really struggling to get some nice shots. I have the feeling they are playing really bad. Even Falcao is not good. He is almost not scoring a misses lots of shots.

My biggest concern are my midfielders who always try to shoot from far distance. Even if I ask them to bring the ball in the penalty area.
