Wow, i just found out about this, and this sounds awesome!! If any of you ever have comment in here, i really wnat to but don't know how to ! Wow it sounds so cool! :D

How do you know life isn't just a lucid dream? ;)

Lucid dreams=You think something while dreaming and it happens.

Deep, man.

I was talking about this with a mate a while ago - sounds like bullshit to me.

Thanks, man.

It has been scientifically researched quite heavily I believe so the concept is very real. And with the sheer complexities of the human brain, it doesn't sound too illogical.

PS. Ending every sentence with man makes it feel like two stoners having epiphanies while we talk deep, agree man?

Really? Doesn't that technically mean that Inception isn't that far-fetched? How can you CONTROL your dream, though? Isn't that just ******-up?

yeh, but how do you know when your in a dream? :\

Well it usually happens when something is too unrealistic to believe so you assume that it's a dream or you are 50% awake

Yeah, Inception was pretty much based on lucid dreaming. Well, the concept of the film was. There are techniques that can work to induce lucid dreaming aswell. It's a very interesting subject.

I saw this in a TV Show once. I just thought they made it up, but after some googling it turned out to be quite real. Sounds fascinating to be honest.

There are little things that you should do if you think you in a lucid dream. One is to look in the mirror, you wont have a reflection.

i can't wait till i get to bed, im gonna try and get it to happen, haha!! :D

It's more just an awareness that you're dreaming. Since you're aware that you're dreaming, you can manipulate them. I don't think you can actually physically construct and control the dream Inception style, but Inception is based on the concept of lucid dreaming. It seems more of an advancement on just current imagination and dreams. If you think about something hard enough, it's generally what you dream about. You can also recall what you dreamt about when you wake up, so it's just an advancement on those ideas really. I think anyway, I'm just inferring from what I've read here.

I have no idea, I've only ever done it once by mistake (partially). So I'm no expert.

I have had lucid dreams quite a few times and all you have to do is think something while dreaming and it happens but don't forget you HAVE TO know that you're dreaming other wise you would just think like you would in real life without knowing that you could control everything. So
1. Find out if you're dreaming.
2. Decide what you would happen.
3. Think the thing that came at the end of ''2.'' and it'l happen.

You can actually learn "Lucid Sleep" . Pretty fascinating really.

You make it sound like the Wizard of Oz:

"Just tap your heels together and all your wishes will come true!"

Also - does anyone else think "lucid" sounds like it should be something to do with **** or wet dreams?

How can you tell weather its a dream, thats what i don't get..

Reality testing
Reality testing (or reality checking) is a common method used by people to determine whether or not they are dreaming. It involves performing an action and observing if the results are consistent with results expected when awake. By practicing these tests during waking life, one may eventually decide to perform such a test while dreaming, which may fail and let the dreamer realize they are dreaming[36].
Looking at text or one's digital watch (remembering the words or the time), looking away, and looking back. The text or time will probably have changed randomly and radically at the second glance or contain strange letters and characters. (Analog watches do not usually change in dreams, while text and digital watches have a great tendency to do so.)[37][unreliable source?] A digital watch or clock may feature strange characters or the numbers all out of order.
Flipping a light switch. Light levels rarely change as a result of the switch flipping in dreams.[38]
Looking into a mirror; in dreams, reflections from a mirror often appear to be blurred, distorted, incorrect, or frightening.[38]
Looking at the ground beneath one's feet or at one's hands. If one does this within a dream the difference in appearance of the ground or one's hands from the normal waking state is often enough to alert the conscious to the dream state.[39]
Holding one's nose and mouth closed while attempting to inhale. If dreaming, one will find themselves breathing and aware.[citation needed]

Dreams are fascinating, and are a big part of Freudian psychology, although they've fallen out of favor in contemporary psychology since there's not really an empirical way to use them at all.

If you want to, you can remember your dreams very vividly. All you have to do is write them down as soon as you wake up from them. Typically I don't remember my dreams. Then one night I will and if I write it down as soon as I wake up in the morning, the next night I will have a very vivid dream. If I write it down again, the next night's dream will be 10 times more vivid than the last one. I have a friend who religiously dream journals and he remembers every bit of his dreams because of it. I'm lazy and don't really, but I'm going to start, because why not? You only have one life to live and it's a short one, might as well get all of the consciousness out of it that you can.

One thing you can do if you want to have a really vivid dream is listen to this file: http://gnomad.info/Abyss.zip It's an hour long track that if listened to with closed-ear headphones will make you fall asleep and dream really vividly. Check out the readme first, but it's very interesting stuff and definitely works.

As far as lucid dreaming goes, I've never done it but my friend who does the dream journaling does it. He says that you can do it if you look at your hands. The problem is, of course, that once you start lucid dreaming you get really excited about it and then wake up. The key apparently is to remain totally calm and not get excited.
