Hi, Im currently managing Man City, and in need of a new left back after selling Kolarov. My choice has been narrowed down between Luke Shaw and David Alaba. Shaw would cost me 30m pounds, where as Alaba 34.5m + 2m in bonuses (36.5m). I cannot decide however as to who I should buy. With Luke Shaw I know I am getting a home grown player with mass potential, whereas Alaba is ready made for the first team and can only get better, + is more versatile. I need help as to which of the two would be the better buy, and if possible why you think so. Thanks.

Alaba, shaw is good but alaba can go into the first team and paying 30 mil for a 18 year old nahh

Shaw, he's younger and home grown, Alaba has bad position and bad marking which is a down fall

I'd get Alaba.

Away from the fact that Shaw is English, young, awesome potential... I can't justify spending that much on an 18 year old. Especially as you will probably be able to pick up a regen of Shaw's ability or better.

Plus, Alaba can come straight in to the first team. It also stops Bayern from having him! (H)

Shaw has been a revelation for me on my Man Utd save,he has taken Evra's place in the starting 11 already(1st season) and is in the running to receive PFA Young player of the year

I would recommend Luke Shaw for you, I too had to decide between Shaw and alaba but I chose Shaw. At first I put him in my under 19s team and in his second season I put him in my First Team. I used him to replace Adriano in my barcelona career, and my plan was to play Jordi Alba as a first choice and Luke Shaw as a second choice. But my plan had to change and I had to start playing Luke Shaw as my first choice as he was playing better that Alba. Alba had a lower average rating and also alba was getting far too many yellow cards. I'm not 100% but I think when I first bought shaw his composure stat was 10 and that is something I wanted to improve. So I trained him on composure and high amount for his season while he was in under 19s. Now his composure is 12, and he is my best left back in the team. I tried to include a screenshot for you to show you some stats for Alba and shaw, but the site wouldn't let me so I will type them to you.

Although my coach says Shaw is only 2 stars, and Alba is 2.5 stars, in my opinion Luke Shaw is still better. Although they are both on 28 games for the season, Shaw has been playing more than him recently (but at the beginning of my season Alba was playing more). Luke shaw's average rating is 7.14, compared to alba's 6.97. Jordi alba wins for pass completion ratio with 80% compared to Luke Shaws 79%. Tackle completion ratio is the same on 87%. Luke shaw wins cross completion ratio on 15% compared to albas 11%. Luke shaw wins header completion ratio on 55% compared to albas 53%. Luke shaw wins for lowest yellow cards with 3, compared to albas 12. I hope you find this post useful, and I would 100% recommend Luke Shaw for you. Just don't forget to improve his composure.

Having used both for multiple seasons, I would recommend Alaba. A number of folks have mentioned this already, but alaba is imediately ready to be a top 3 LB in the PL, whereas Shaw will take at least a season to get there. By the time Luke Shaw is a world beater, you should have access to a bunch of regens who are just as good if not better.

so, i'd sign alaba, then a regen.

Shaw - had him at Dortmund and the guy played well but Jonathan Silva was a BEAST.
Alaba - never had him but he's an animal and Bayern want 80 mil euros.

Jonathan Silva becomes a BEAST and you can get him for 5 mil euros at the start of the game.

I personally go for Ricardo Rodriguez usually at the start if I need a new LB. 10m in first window usually does it and wont even ask for high wages. Been better than Shaw for me as Shaw little bit too injury prone at least on my saves.

Alaba is a winner right away. If you want to win games now, yeah it's so worth it to pay the extra money. Unfortunately in my save Bayern bought Alaba and they won't sell him no matter what! Luke Shaw will become a great player eventually, but Alaba is already great NOW. PS I own Luke Shaw. I am needing to be patient for him to grow up! LOL. In 44 appearances for me, in his 1st season at Liverpool he has 6 assists and 6.97 rating. My coach tells me he is 2.5 star current ability but a whopping 4.5 star potential ability.
