Mac Files

Hi, I have asked this question on help threads many times and never had an answer so I thought I should ask here, so, when I download Kits and need to use WinRar to extract I cant find WinRar for Mac so I cant do that, could someone give me a link to Mac WinRar or show me how to use files like that for Mac in another way??

so any other questions come to me, as i know hopefully the majority of what needs to be done with mac on FM

OK... go to the apple website, to the downloads section and find "The Unarchiver"

if you don't mind downloading from elsewhere... http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Compression-Tools/The-Unarchiver.shtml

It is the same software, and runs the same as Winrar

When extracting kit files etc, just open it with this, and change the destination to wherever is needed for the game

Have either of you ever had any problems with your macs? i spilt some water over my mac and it works fine now after a day in the airing cupboard but it randomly turns off (not shutdown) so i lose my progress on FM :S

Sorry I am an amateur, how do I open files with it

Download the file you want, right click on the file

Open with (second option down) choose "The Unarchiver"

and either just open it to desktop or downloads folder, or go through your folders to extract it directly to the folder that you want.

I rarely actually click on the software its self it just does the job for you like Winrar,

You can also set it as the default opening software for your mac, it may prompt you to do this after a couple of times using it

Erm i have never heard of, or experienced my FM just turning off...

tbh iv never had any running problems with FM whilst iv had my mac, its always been top rating for processing and speed of the game etc and iv only had glitches with software such as kits not displaying first time etc

if you have applecare i suggest you use it to get that checked out, or maybe someone else has an insight on that.

Are you on snow leopard? if not, maybe you should upgrade? probably wont help, but worth a try.

One more thing I have put my Player Faces in Faces folder and have ticked box in preferrences but it still hasnt worked, any ideas?

I now cant play matches in 3D if i dont want it too shutdown.. weird

Some fellow Mac users said the snow leopard software wasn't worth it, but my Mac seemed to speed up a fair bit once i upgraded

i would recommend that to anyone.

Im pretty sure your problem wont be fixed by it anyway, your problem is very strange thats for sure.

But if you want to check, the apple button top left, about this mac.

Which box is this?

where it says display setting, check that you have real and generated pictures there, which is the default setting.

then as the norm untick use skin cache, and tick always reload skin on confirm.

folder should be...
documents/sports interactive/football manager 2011/graphics/faces

Like i said i would be really lucky to get that right... it is a genuine guess.

Unless someone else may know more on here about it, search your problem elsewhere such as the mac forums, there are many about... someone will know!
