Manchester United release injury-plagued midfielder Owen Hargreaves after deciding not to extend his contract beyond this summer.

Not a surprise, has had niggles and wobbles all season - if not all the way through since he joined Manchester United. Disappointed it has ended this way, as he was a great midfielder when fit. Largely reminds me of Jonathan Woodgate at Tottenham.

I wonder which team will take the risk and sign him on a free. As long as his wage demands aren't too outrageous I think he would be worth the risk

Hargreaves to QPR?

Such a shame, great player and one of my favourites - have missed him in midfield.

Good luck Hargo!

I'd be more than happy to see him in an Everton shirt, if he was able to sort his fitness out. Would hate to see all that talent go to waste.

Proberly the best decision. Think he may be the next big name to go and play in the MLS especially as there is now 2 Canadian sides and one more comming in next season.

We love you Hargo.. Will always be remembered for that free-kick vs Arsenal!

I am suprised they did not offer a Pay as you Play contract, surely this definitely means we need a midfielder added to the squad in the summer, if Scholes leaves we may even need two midfielders. Not easy ones to replace either at all.

Not really, we haven't had him properly for 3 years so we don't really need another midfielder in the squad as we've basically not had him anyway. If Scholes leaves we'll need another midfielder who can pass and defend (Rodwell please (A)).

No. Just no. Leave him where he is. Pretty please :'(

;)

Seriously though, I think we could really get him this summer - been linked to him for a while and maybe this season is the season we take him considering Fergie is finally admitting we're signing people.

Yeah I'm resigned to it tbh. If it was for 12-15 million, can't turn it down due to our finances. Be an excellent fit for Utd too. Judging by the way he played against Chelsea today, he'll be better next season

Would have preferred to see him take Carrick's place rather than Hargreaves/Scholes, but regardless he's going to brilliant when he eventually joins us.
