Had anybody had any positive experiences in managing a club that you previously managed? I'm currently Tottenham in 2013, winning the league last year, and have been offered the Real Madrid job. I would love to take it but possibly return to Spurs in the future. On previous FM's the board and whole club together hate me and won't even consider me when I apply! Anybody done this?

Why don't you save it before you go to Madrid. Then create a new save file at Madrid, then if it all goes wrong, you can just return as you were as Tottenham?

I suppose I could do... Thanks for the quick reply! Anybody returned to their previous club though?

i was same as you on football manager 2010, managed Sheffield united for 10 years led them to all types of victories then moved to Barcelona. when the Sheffield job came available again 5 years later i decided to return, but they wouldn't hire me!!

I returned to my previous club once and the players the previous manager signed is shitte. :(
So I don't recommend you going back unless you really want to.

It depends how bitter the Tottenham board are if you leave. If the post is open a few years into the Madrid job though, you can always apply and find out.

Hmm.. The board were listening to offers last month so Levy does want out. Do you think it would make a difference? Levy probably wouldn't employ me but maybe the new chairman will?

I have done this on my Arsenal save, I have left them in my story for a club and hope to return one day in the future, Don't know wether I will only spent 3 season with them but won back-to-back CL's and EPL.

On my Argyle save, when I leave, (Its going to be soon, our dismal form could see me sacked)- I will be looking to return, later on in the future. Just something nice about it?

What I tend to do when I start getting itchy feet in my first FM save ( always start with Wednesday) is I add a new manager in the same career- start unemployed, with Proffesional Footballer as past experience and start applying for jobs as they become vacant.

Once I've done all I can with Wednesday, retire as a legend and watch the club keep on challenging in the future!

Heh, that`s what I`m planning to do with my current game. My manager is only 33 at the moment though, so I guess it could be a while still :/

As Gillingham I got them to the top of the championship, two seasons later, the were promoted as champions as even the ****** replacement, it was holloway (amazing in real life, SI don't like him), got them relegated and job came up, I had gone to Juventus, and I took it. So you can return, it depends on how you leave. If it is with a good reputation at the club, then its fine, if its not, then don't go if you wanna come back to the club. You might regret it.

I have done it only once. But not on 2011. on 2009, I started at Liverpool, won everythign after 3 seasons and resigned...I left Liverpool and went to Barcelona, and after 2 years and winning alot Liverpool sacked their manager (forget who) so I applied and went back to Anfield

If you don't resign or have your contract expire, they will never have you back. I would have said even resigning would prevent you from returning, but according to scuk08 that's not always the case.

Just up and leaving a club for another job will add you to the teams despised persons list

Last year I left Newport County (who I had in the EPL) for Fulham who was in struggling in Champs. Stayed with them for 10 years until Newport fired its coach when they finally got relegated. Left Fulham for Newport again and build them back up. Then again I was a legend for Newport so I had no problems going back and was world class at the time as a manager so I don't know if that play a factor in the decision as well. I was tempted to leave Newcastle this year to go to Leeds which was in EPL, but having too much fun dominating the league with Newcastle and trying to go for a undefeated season cause perfect season seems like it is going to be impossible for me.

Well i decided to join Real and snapped up my former player Kadlec... In a press conference they were saying spurs fans will hate me... Naturally I downloaded FMM and... -Tottenham -Dislike Person -James Howard -100 :/

Lucky I saved a new file incase I want to go back in time lol

im so not lucky... i applied to a team, not paying attention to the fact the team was relegated...no big deal i tought... only that i didn't select that lower league in the db. so, the team was relegated and i was fired, like, 5 days after being hired..

i made my way and the next year there i was, waiting for the manager of the team to be fired so that i could apply.. nice..it happened...
surprise surprise... i cannot accept the proposal not knowing why...me cries xD

so now i guess its cause of this everybody is talking about... anyway, i didnt even had the time to made a mess in the team and now i cant return? not fair =( -.-'

happiness = 0
