I am trying to manage a league team and a national team, I already manage the league team and the national team mangerial position is available, can i get the job by apply for it or do i have to be offered it?

You can apply for it so you have the chance to pick which team you really want to manage.

how to you get to manage both at the same time, without quitting one for the other???

you could just add 2 managers, and make one the national team manager.

On my FM2009 I was the manger for Man Utd...(Treble in 08/09 and undefeated, League title in 09/10, and FA Cup and League Cup double in 10/11), and Greece, France, and England all offered me jobs. I took England in 2011 and led them the European Title 2-1 over Italy, and Man Utd to another League title in 11/12, so it is possible, just VERY time consuming

you can manage a club and a national team at the same time with the same manager

You can manage both at the same time with the same manager. Did it in FM'09 and '10.

I Was england manager and got rumoured with the job at lpool half way through 2nd season so i took a gamble resigned from england and luckily lpool offered me the job... only to find you can manage england and liverpool haha this was fm10 so i learnt my lesson now

Apply for a club job if you're a National team manager
Apply for a national job if you're a Club manager

You can go apply for the job if the job status is "Insecure" or when there's no manager.
Simply right click the club's / nation's name and click either apply for job or declare interest for job.

ho do you do it???

you start off as either a club or a national team and then apply for other jobs that come available
i.e if you are a national team apply for club jobs and if you are a club team apply for national jobs. when you a re offered a job take it and you will be managing 2 teams.

I was a bit concerned that if i accepted another job, i would automatically quit the one i have, but does this not happen? Also does it work the same same if you are trying to manage 2 league teams?

no you cant manage 2 league teams at the same time

The situation is:
On FM2008 which I was playing till recently, you can have a Club job, still apply for a national job without the usual (fans kicking off). Then if you are offered the national job you can take it, AND keep the club job with noone complaining (WHICH is a complete glitch because you can't in rl have a club job and a national job at the same position, thus why Steve McClaren could be Asst Man for England and Manager at Middlesborough and why he had to quit Middlesborough when he got the manager's job). In FM2010 I haven't been offered a national job that I wanted to take, but i apply to every one that opens, and I was offered the Martinique job.
SO it is UP TO YOU... you can have both jobs, and break the rl rules, and noone gives a hoot, or you can pertain to the rules as I am doing at the moment, and Leave your current league job when a good nation opens up. ONE MAJOR POINT, if you get a good nation, your reputation will rise, i was a national once with Fulham, got the England Job, did well in the Euros and got Continental, then won the next European and recieved World Class status....

there is no rule in real life that stops a manager from managing both a club and national team at the same time ex. Hiddink at Chelsea & Russia most just choose not to do it due to time constraints.
