Manchester United - United In Fear & United In Honour

Manchester United have fallen from grace, fallen from their perch and are now this season they're on their way to settle a score. The club who under David Moyes had a torrid time last season finished 7th in the Premier League. This means there will be no European football for the Red Devils to enjoy this term. The word crisis was used alot during the last campaign and the fans will be all too familiar reading the back pages of the newspapers to see that word plastered above a picture of a United story.

Moyes bore the brunt of the fallout last season and was sent packing even before the season ended. This caused shock waves not just throughout the Premier League but through Manchester United. It fell to United's legendary stalwart Ryan Giggs to finish off the campaign as interim manager. He ended up in charge of the last four games in which United won two, drew one and lost one.

Louis Van Gaal

Giggs' tenure didn't last long with himself admitting that he wasn't experienced enough to manage Manchester United yet. The World Cup came and went and after the competition Holland manager Louis Van Gaal was appointed Manchester United manager. The Dutch maestro is a well regarded manager and after spells in charge of Ajax, AZ Alkmaar, Barcelona and Bayern Munich the strict disciplinarian is now in charge of Man Utd. Van Gaal also took Holland to a World Cup final and a European Championship final.

Manchester United so far have already spent well in excess of £150million and with the glaziers wanting Man Utd back on top, it's believed there is still another £50million on offer to Van Gaal plus the money available from further players leaving the club.

United have already this summer signed.

Ander Herrera - £29 million
Luke Shaw - £27 million
Marcos Rojo - £16 million
Angel Di Maria - £59 million
Daley Blind - £14 million

United who have spent such a sum this season will be praying the can reach the top four this season. The club definitly cannot afford to lose the Champions League windfall two years on the trot and after having spent to frivolously they will need that money more than ever.

Van Gaal's minimum aim will surely be to make the top four and potentially to win a trophy this season too.

Louis Van Gaal has decided to purchase another left back in the form of Jose Gaya. The young Spaniard joins from Valencia for a fee of around £13,500,000. It's believed the club activated Gaya's minimum release fee which was in the terms of his contract. Gaya will provide Luke Shaw with stiff competition for a place in the side. Both are young players who will be looking to make the position their own.

This move also looks like Van Gaal will be using Marcos Rojo solely as a central defender, a position which needs strengthening itself. Gaya was well sought after with the likes of Chelsea, Juventus and PSG all acredited to taking an interest in the talented left back. It was however Van Gaal who persevered with his interest and now United have a new star to adore.

Gabriel Barbosa Signs As Fifth Striker

Brazilian samba? Manchester United haven't had a lot of luck with Brazilian's. Rafael is probably one of the more recent success stories. This has not deterred Van Gaal in securing the transfer of Gabriel Barbosa for £8,000,000 plus future add on fee's from Santos.

Barbosa is an extremely talented player and has been likened to Neymar. Barbosa has a tough line in front of him though with Van Persie, Falcao, Rooney and James Wilson all vying for a first team spot. There has been some speculation that Van Gaal may be tempted to play Wayne Rooney as a centre midfielder as he see's the club captain being able to perform better further back in the field.

Barbosa can also play on the wing so moving Rooney deeper may not come to fruition. The youngster may have to adapt to life in England. It is rare that a South American domestic player excels in their first season some do but most take a season to setting into the league and the country. There will be expectant eyes on Barbosa though as the United fans will want to see some of his raw talent on display this season.

It has also been confirmed that Van Gaal plans to take his team to America for Pre-Season. The US tour has become something of a mainstay thing for United who seem to be trying to sell the brand 'Manchester United' out there.

As I say guys apologies for the new story. My Saints one crashed. I didn't fancy re-doing all the Saints bits so I decided to do United.
