Joel Fretwell has been appointed Mansfield Town FC manager.

This is my first ever FM game I have purchased and didn't even know that it was possible to create a story like this, so I have gone back through the game and wrote a bit down to upload here to start my story :D

As the season got underway, the gaffer knew that this side needed strengthening and off he went to look for suitable candidates to lead this club out of the BSP and onto better things.

In
Mark Little - Wolves - Season Long Loan
Josh Falkingham - Leeds - 3 Months Loan
Adam Mcgurk - A.Villa - 3 Months Loan
David Ball - Man City - Season Long Loan
Eric Lichaj - A.Villa - Season Long Loan
Shane Ferguson - Newcastle - 40k
Anthony Sweeny - Harthepool - 28k
Arassen Ragaven - Free

These were all the signings that the manager thought was necessary and thus the season was upon us

Mansfield (Nix,Foster) 2 - 2 Crawley

As the season got underway, Mansfield got off the the worst possible start going 2 goals down and heading for certain defeat. But then the fightback began as Hotchkiss played a wonderful ball over the top, for nix to lash it into the top corner.
With just 2 Minutes remaining, Sweeney whipped in the corner for Foster to be stood tall and head it past the stranded keeper in the Crawley net. A welcomed point for the first ever game.

Mansfield 2 (Ferguson,Nix) - 0 Luton

After picking up a well earned point, a search for the first win began and it got off to the best possible start when Ferguson provided a beautiful solo run to hammer home after 5 minutes. However, From then on, constant Luton Pressure was on the horizon with Barnes Homer cracking the woodwork. However, 10 Minutes from time, Nix replacing Ferguson came on and latched onto a through ball from Ragaven to seal all three points

Mansfield 2 (Speight,Lichaj) - 0 Salisbury

Coming off the cracking performance against Luton, Mansfield only added to their confidence. Speight, coming into the line up for the Injrued McGurk showed his raw pace to race onto a pass from Silk and slide it underneath the keeper. Salisbury were never in with a chance with the way Mansfield were playing and just after half time, Lichaj recieved the corner from Sweeney to hammer it in from 12 yards.

Mansfield 2 (Speight, Ball) - 1 Barrow

This was to be there toughest test and showed a real will for fightback from the squad.
After 30 minutes the game was playing very bland with Barrow putting on the pressure, only to see a through ball get dispatched and go into half time, 1-0 down. At Half time, aall three changes were made, Duffy,Shaw and nix off, Speight,Ball(debut) and Ferguson came onto the scene. From here on it was continual Mansfield Pressure with Speight slicing the defence open and placing it into the far corner. With the clock ticking down, something special was to be produced and it came from David Ball. He picked up the ball, 30 yards out and whacked it past the Barrow keeper, to keep the strong start going.

Mansfield 0 - 1 Ebbsfleet

After avoiding the loss for the start of the season, Ebbsfleet proved a stubborn task. After 3 minutes Ebbsfleet were ahead, but it was all they could Muster. Mansfield were very mucht the dominant force but the Ebbsfleet goal could not be broken with Cronin saving three 1 on 1 chances from Hotchkiss.

Mansfield 2 (Ball, Ferguson) - 1 Chester

After recording there first defeat a bounceback was needed. It Occured at the Diva Stadium. Chester took a surprise lead after some poor defending from silk allowed them to break down the right and the cross converted.
However, After Ball and Ferguson arose from the bench, the momentum quickly swung with Ball tapping in from 7 yards. It was all down the sheer determination for the winner, Ferguson, taking on 3 midfielders and hammering in a low shot from the edge of the area to give Mansfield the win they deserved.

Mansfield 1(Sweeney(Pen)) - 0 Kettering

This game was possibly the least entertaining you will ever see and it was decided after just 2 minutes, when Farkingham burst into the area, only to be bought down by a desperate challenge. Sweeney had no problems putting away the spot kick for his first goal since his move.

Mansfield 0 - 0 Kidderminister

Talk about a boring game above, this may be just as bad, Only three opportunities all match, the most notable falling to Challinor, who hit the woodwork from 20 yards

Mansfield 1(Ball) - 0 Stevenage

David ball was the decider by two teams occupying the play off spots. Stevenage were dangerous early on with Romon Rose leading there attack, but it was Ball that stole the show with a superb solo run, leaving the defence for dead and slotting it on the inside of the onrushing keeper.

Mansfield 2 (Speight, Challinor) - 2 Grays

The fans were pretty upset with this performance although they can take encouragement from the fightback produced. Grays, sitting bottom after the first games with only 2 points should have been pushed over, But it was Grays that took a 2-0 Half time lead.
Speight pulled one back with a drive from 16 yards into the bottom corner only for Challinor to steal a point from the impressive Grays with a thunderous strike from the edge of the box.

Mansfield 2( Lichaj, Ball) - 1 Rushden and Diamonds

This was an impressive victory by Mansfield, who were thankful for heroics from their keeper Alan Marriot, denying the impressive Aaron O Connor on more then 5 occasions.
Mansfield took the lead after 10 minutes when Lichaj headed strongly from a ferguson Corner. Rushden then pulled one back with an effort from fully 25 yards, only for the last minute to provide welcome result for the fans when Ball latched onto Fosters pass and slotted under the keeper.

Mansfield 1(Speight) - 0 Oxford

Oxford were simply dominant all game with Constable striking the woodwork three times. But in football, sometimes you have to scrap for your lives to get a result and it came, one long ball from Farkingham was controlled well by speight for him to strike it into the far post. A victory that Mansfield will be very happy with

Mansfield 0 - 0 Hayes and Yeading

Really boring game which could've been decided in the 88th minute when David Ball was one on one with the keeper, only for him to make a world class save and provided Hayes with a much needed Point.

To Be Continued...

Good start, and Ball looks amazing lol. Where are you in the league?

Good start, and Ball looks amazing lol. Where are you in the league?

I am top :) - Well, will be after this update im going to do now. But there are only 4 points separating top 4 I think.

I will upload a table soon :)

New Update.

Mansfield 1 (Shaw) - 0 Barrow

Poor performance on the whole but the result was ground out. Shaw coming off the bench to replace speight who slotted in from the right hand side, giving the keeper no chance.

Mansfield 1 (O.G) - 0 Forest Green Rovers.

The game settled in the most unusual of circumstances. The lively Ball put his head on a dream ball across from Luke Jones, hitting the Crossbar, falling down, hitting the keeper and falling in.
Rovers never really muscled an attack and the problem of finishing the chances for us, is starting to become a factor

Mansfield 0-3 Altrincham

An absolute disaster of a match. After only taking the previous two games by one goal we were never in the game. Little, Senior and Denham ran the defence ragged.
Fell behind after three minutes and after that is was one way traffic.

Mansfield 2(Nix, Ferguson) - 1 Eastbourne

Needing to bounce back from an almighty thrashing at the hands of Altrincham, Mansfield did not disappoint. Eastbourne however took the lead when a careless pass from Hotchkiss put the striker though for a simple finish past Marriot.
After that, Mansfield kick into gear and put on a show for the fans that turned up today, Ball hit the Crossbar and that a 25 yard shot from sweeney also whacked the woodwork. It was then substitute Nix that rounded the keeper to slot home in his return to the side.
Ferguson then scored an 89th Minute winner to ensure that the Mansfield team got back to winning ways.

FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round - Mansfield 0-0 Ilkeston

Probably the most boring game for any spectator to watch, the keepers had hardly anything to do and not even the substitutes would liven up the game.
Sets up a replay, which the side could do without as they look to strengthen their lead at the top.

FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round Replay Mansfield 2(Ballx2) - Ilkeston

A welcome return to form for David Ball saw the young striker bag two goals either side of half time.
He opened the scoring when Ragaven slid it through the defence, for Ball to place it to the keepers left.
The next goal was a well time header from the corner of Luke Jones which sent Mansfield into the first round proper of the F.A.Cup.

Transfer News

Josh Falkingham loan near expiration, however, he has agreed to move permanent when the transfer window opens.

You will finish the season without a trophy.

Good Layout mate, Keep going :D

Cheers :) - Hopefully keep up the good from.

Firstly, Adam Mcgurk loan move has finished after the 3 months comes to an end. It was Relatively unsuccessful spending most of the time injured and not getting on the scoresheet.

The decision was to not renew the loan and search for someone new and a new player is now at the club
Josh Magennis from Cardiff - 3 Month Loan Deal.

Mansfield 0 - 1 Histon

Histon are very much the in form team when this math occured and on the pitch there were no signs of seeing that slip. Histon were dominant throughout and their defence stood resolute as Mansfield had virtually no chances to even equalise, never mind steal a victory.

FA Cup First Round - Mansfield 0 - 3 Stockport

Mansfield Miserable cup form continued by a heavy defeat to their inform striker who bagged a hattrick. However, the result doesn't reflect the overall play, with Mansfield being far more dominant and things might have been different if Ball and Speight had dispatched the chances.
The 14 Chances each statistics is separated by the crucial finishers.

Mansfield 3(Speight,Ball, Nix) - 2 Crawley

Mansfield got back to winning ways after two straight defeats much to the enjoyment of the fans. Speight opened the scoring from close range and then Ball ran through to lash home a 2nd. Crawley started to crawl back into the game and pulled one back after 77 minutes. However, Nix then create a brilliant solo run from his own half to slide it to the keepers left. Crawley got one back in injury time, but the score was already decided.

Mansfield 1(Ball) - 0 Luton

As Mansfield try to press home advantage at the top of the table, a very sturdy Luton side arrived at Field Mill, However, It was Ball who was to steal the show for The Stags and ensure another victory. Ball was in impressive form all game and had he taken his chances, he could've had 5 or 6, but he will be content with the screamer from 35 yards which sent the fans into raptures.

Mansfield 0 - 0 Eastbourne

A bore draw at Field Mill with Mansfield having the best of the chances. Eastbourne very much need to thank their Goal Keeper for that point after pulling off a world class save in victory time to tip Magennis low shot around the post.

Mansfield 2(Magennis x2) - 1 Ebbsfleet

Magennis only recently loaned from Cardiff showed his quality today as Mansfield came from a goal behind to beat play off contenders Ebbsfleet.
Sloppy defending from Mansfield cost them the lead, but after the break was to be The Stags time to shine and to be precise, Magennis.
His first goal came off the back of a sweeping move seing Jones cross tapped in by the young striker. His second however, was more impressive, the ball had fizzed into the box for him to volley home late on to seal three points.

Joel Fretwell - Manager of the Month - November

Mansfield 3 (Ball, Magennis x2) - 0 Gateshead

Gateshead must be wishing they'd never turned up today after Mansfield ran riot over the home team with a scoreline which could have been lots more.
Ball opened the scoring with a shot from the edge finding its way under the keeper.
Magennis off the back of his double over Ebbsfleet added another Brace.
Both were terrific counter attacks from Mansfield with Sweeney orchestrating in the centre, and two through balls, saw a 100% return from Magennis.

Mansfield 1(Sweeney) - 0 Grays

The Mansfield Town bogey team is very much Grays although they tried there utmost best to dispel that myth today.
The first 45 saw a broing half of football occur with Gray Ironically for Grays provided the early pressure.
It wasn't until the 79th minute when the game was decided, when sweeney lashed his right foot on the ball and watched it fly straight into the top corner.

FA Trophy First Round Mansfield 1(Challinor) - 1 Vauxhall Motors

Mansfield run in all cups starts jittery and this was to be no exception. Mansfield struggled to keep up with a lower ranked team in this encounter and were thankful for challinors effort 5 minutes from time.
Challinor thumped it from all of 30 yards to see it fly past the despairing dive of the opposition keeper and to keep Mansfield in the hunt for the F.A. Trophy.

Sitting top with Cambridge following behind, very much looking forward to the rest of the season.
Im not entirely sure the best way to upload screenshots. Can anyone advise ?

Cheers

Seems that you're doing well at the mo. Try getting Danijel Subotic, Matt Ritchie, Haris Vuckic or Rhys Murphy on loan. They are all class for BSP (H)
