Man marking and zonal marking are both terrible.
Man marking:
Everybody marks their man but the guy with the ball can run where he wants.
Example:The guy run with the ball in the edge of the area at my goal.Lost his man and my players wont tackle him because they are staying with their man and then scores.
Zonal marking:
Everybody goes after the ball and there is always someone open.
Example:The guy runs with the ball to the left center side and my RCB and RB jump at him. There is a winger running down my right side,he passes to him and that is a goal.
I prefer zonal marking BTW.
Which is better for you vote and comment.

Unless your DCs have excellent speed, man marking is suicide from my experiences.

He runs with the ball and there is no one of his teammates ahead of him and my players are setting an offside trap and not tackling him.

I always play zonal with a few players man marking depending on the situation ie , defensive midfielder, anchor, stopper usually get man mark. The rest are zonal, especially the creative ones.
I also man mark if I plan to park the bus :D but not on all players because opposing trequartista ( or other roamers) drag my players out of position and leave gaps.

This means mixing is the best solution and also in regard of the opponent.
