I'm trying to create my own tactic, with mixed success so far. I have been tweaking it for about 10 games so far, and it's coming along nicely. I am making three seperate tactics, all in rotation (one for hard games, one for easy, one for normal, nice rotation with my Huddersfield team) and fairly similar.

I am watching the full matches and using match analysis, but just don't really know what I'm looking out for. My short passes connect well, so most of my players play a short passing game, but don't tend to push forward too much. I get around 2-3 CCC's in a normal, even match (1-2 goals) and just don't know if it's any good.

Any guidance to what I should look for when using match analysis and creating tactics would be much appreciated.

I find that stats can be misleading.

Just say you make 200 passes per game, and 150 of em are from your GK to CB, and the rest are misplaced. you have a passing accuracy of 75%, but in reality, if your CM are not passing well the passing game is not working.

When you look at the stats, you have to factor in 'was the play successful.' In rugby we talk about the 'game line.' Even if you retain possession, unless you cross the 'game line' the play is not working.

Use the analysis tools? :P
Also the more in-depth player stats are useful - pass completion, key pasess ect. ect.

That's actually a really good point, and one that I hadn't really thought of, thanks a lot.

How would I counter that though? Surely if my CM's just aren't passing well no matter what, tactically there is nothing I can do to fix it, simply need to buy better players? I actually don't have massive troubles with them, as I play 2 DM's and a CAM, DM's launch ball upfield (with relatively good accuracy, as good as you can expect) and the CAM holds up ball and plays shorter passes.

Am I likely to suffer any problems with the gap in the middle of the park? One DM and the CAM, as well as my two wingers all move around alot, so the middle is often populated, but with nobody dedicated to stick there. I'm not sure how happy I am with my winger's currently, as they are both set to support and don't really provide enough service, but as soon as I set them to attack, the midfield is exposed horribly. Any ideas to help with that? I have two full-backs set to defend, would supporting FB's help me at all in the middle? Keeping in mind the two DM's, one of which rarely leaves his position at all.

You need to look at individual stats sometimes, not always the team stats. Clicking on the dots on the analysis screen for "passes/tackles/interceptions" will show a reply of those instances, and you can determine whether what the player is attempting to do is what you WANT him to do.

So essentially, you're saying that whether or not they succeed, I just want to make sure they're attempting the right kind of passes etc? Sorry I really am new at this haha.
