A very quick newbie sounding question, although been football/championship manager for 10 years plus, but what does ME stand for? Is it something to do with the match play??

Yeah, it stands for match engine. So basically how the game runs during matches, how players act/react etc etc.

It stands for Match Engine. It's the graphical processing of theraw FM data carried out by your computer seen by you as a 3D football match.
