Meaning of Racing

I noticed some clubs in France have "racing" somewhere in their name. What does this word mean in french, I can't quite find it. The best I got was the path/flow of a river.

Pretty pointless thread don't you think? You'd be better using Google Translate.
 
1. This is a forum with plenty of football fanatics
2. I used translators. They aren't the best.

Should I make a liverpool story for you, would that be more interesting?
 
I tryed a google translate and it came up with the french word for racing which is something like coure d'automobile, no idea what it means mate, sorry
 
Hmm.. not heard of this before. I guess it's the same context as Spanish clubs' S.A.D at the end of the names.
 
What French clubs have 'Racing' in their names? did you mean Spanish?
 
Isn't there a team called Racing Santander?

Like CSKA which is Central sports club of Army
 
A lot of European clubs have more than football going on, a lot of them are in Basketball, Volleyball and stuff, maybe Racing is part of that?

@ No.1 - Good observation skill's you have there. But I way trying to say you will have more luck using Google or something like that to find the answer. I'm not sure we have any members who speak French.

Of course I used google and I already checked translators, I've taken 4 semesters of Italian, I know what translators work :P

and my point is I'm sick of seeing posts about stories of people taking top clubs, and think they need to share their "accomplishments" and other threads about how people can't win with Madrid.

I figured a thread that would make people think would be far from pointless.

I don't think it was that pointless. It's nice to see that FM-Base can be edukashunal at times.
