Because year after year SI fail to sort the horror show that is press conferences I refuse to take part in them, so I was just wondering does having low media handling effect your reputation as a manager? If it does surely this is something SI really have to expand on the options open to you?

I once watched an interview with Miles Jacobson where he said many people complain about the press conferences being boring, and that this is just something you need to deal with since real world managers keep getting asked the same questions over and over again, and that it's very tedious for them as well.

Press conferences are one of the many tools to influence the moral of both your players and the opposition. Use them to ensure that your team dose not get over confident, ect.

As much as I understand that, these managers don't get asked the same questions week in, week out. Miles is a great guy and always tries to stay in contact with the community, but I feel this is actually the one subject he shy's away from. I've really enjoyed this years game but, and I know everyone feels like this occasionally with FM, I'm almost sick of the tedium of press conferences at this time of year... Surely a patch could be released every quarter just to spice things up a bit?

Managers IRL get asked mostly the same questions week after week too. Anyway, it's not the questions that matter, it's the answers. You shouldn't (if you're doing it right) give the same answers to those same questions every week, so that makes every press conference a little different and gives you a different challenge.

but, managers are asked the same questions over and over again. Go onto Sky Sports News and look at the amount of articles that regurgitate the same info over and over again.

Also, I don't think he's shying away from it since nearly every interview I've read since FM12 has had a second in them where he talks about press conferences in them.

That's a ridiculous argument. Managers also have to deal with travelling between grounds on a coach or plane for hours on end, does that mean FM players should have to deal with this as well? Should the game make you stare at a picture of the M4 for two hours before you're allowed to start the match?

I actually don't mind press conferences. I would feel a little put out if, after I've won a cup or had a brilliant victory against the odds, all there is to do is press "continue". Press conferences let you savour the victory a little bit. But they are tedious, they could be streamlined (fewer conferences before routine league matches, fewer silly questions like "such and such is on the top of his game, isn't he", get rid of the totally pointless and superfluous choice of tones, etc) and to argue that they should be tedious is ridiculous. It's a game.

Apologies Brendan, I didn't mean he shy's away from the subject, but I firmly believe he shy's away from doing anything about it. As this is indeed something everyone wants to do for fun, surely something that the majority of players find monotonous should be something that is focused on? I'm not saying I want to make a mini game of it, but lets change the way these are presented to the player (manager)
