Messi & Ronaldo Contracts - HELP!??!

Im currently playing as Arsenal in my 5th season. I've won the league twice previously, F.A Cup twice, League Cup 3 times, Champions League twice, World club championship and taken ENGLAND to the semi-finals of the 2014 world cup.

Yet I can not seem to get Messi OR Ronaldo to enter contract discussions with me and they are BOTH available on a FREE TRANSFER.

Is there any way to build a relationship with the player and or players agent to allow me to offer them a contract? I praise them both roughly every 3-4 months for great performances etc etc yet neither of them are interested and "take it with a pinch of salt".

I can't find a way around this and it's extremely frustrating. As the Manager i've taken a pay cut to £10,000 per week [From £200,000] to decrease the wage budget substancially. I'm currently £600,000 a week UNDER my budget.

Is there anyway around this?? Thanks for reading any help/ideas are appreciated

Use the most up-to-date patch?

Ronaldo won't ever enter because Man U are one of his favoured clubs and Arsenal are rivals with them. Messi, I don't know. What you've been doing is the only way, unless you sign some of their favoured players or staff as well and then try.

didnt think of signing the staff, im short on staff too for some reason, ill look into it thanks. as for latest patch, for some reason whenever i install ANY patch the game wont boot up [keeps saying insert CD] when the cd is in.... so im playing the original release version. I dont really NEED Ronaldo, my team is strong enough without him, but on a Free i can't exactly NOT try to sign him. Messi on a Free is a MUST HAVE in my books.

Ronaldo just signed a 2 year contract with Real at £200,000 p/w - Yet he was rejecting contracts because the basic wage wasn't enough, yet again he WAS on £215,000 a week. Strange. Messi just got a 1 year extension too

Man, you got off cheap... though technically, you didn't exactly get him...Messi asks 400k/week wages on mine!
