Well I started a new game with Bath City in the BS leagues. My assistant constantly says that ''we are misplacing to many short passes''. I searched in google and in forum for some suggestions on this problem, but didn't find anything. If a topic on this mater is alredy open im sorry :p
This feedback is given in almost all of my tactics, that I create. Didn't bothered with it much in the past. But it started to bug me now :D I play a simple rigid 442, default passing. What could be the problem?

i not expert but,

avoid using 3 rows flat formations (especially in midfield), they have less passing options and if you settle for rigid, the players freeze in their positions and it won´t get better

with more rows formations you can move up,down, left and right more easily
with your formation you will have less possetion you will go faster from defense to attack, because you have less rows, and you will miss more passes because you do more midfielder-attacker passes that are harder to perform
manage the midfield and 90% of the work is done

try for exemply formations that rely in diamonds, boxes, triangles and use short passing game if you wish

(for exemple
(1) ML+MCL+MCR+MR vs (2) AMC+MCL+MCR+DMC
passing options (1) = 1+2+2+1=6 (2) =3+3+3+3=12
passing direction (1) left and right (2) letf, right,up and down (with less width))

manage the voids in your formation, you will get less possetion and miss lots of passes in those zones of the pitch, in those zones ask your players to run with the ball or place better skilled passers

good luck mate

First of all I would start changing the passing style to "more direct" and see what happens.

If this solves the problem you probably play to quick for short passing, so change either tempo or passing.

2: Check your creativity level. You play more expressive? Maybe even with "more roaming"? your players are probably not intelligent enough. Lower the setting and higher creativity on individuals with solid creativity levels (play makers etc). Check also levels of their "Decisions"

If this doesn't help the problem is caused by individual mistakes

3. Check the passes in the analysis section

Identify the lads that really screw up your passes. Are there some players doing well and others really bad?
Take the ones with bad percentage and check their passing & decisions stats. If you see low stats lower their through-balls and creativity levels in your tactic. Or change their roles, as a bad passer will never give a good play maker etc

Pay attention to all players with support role! make shure that their passing/decision/creativity stats are in line with level of creativity you allow them
