MLS- How to sign Designated Player

I am looking to sign a designated player in MLS, however, I am not afford that option even though I have three DP slots available.

Is this a bug, am I blind or...

You have to send you assistant manager to scout for DP worthy players, mate

Designated Player, FM has DP next to players with this kind of contract in the squad registration, just like HG = homegrown

A Designated players is a player who a MLS team can sign and pay him whatever they want outside of the salary cap for contracts.

Ive got a player I would like to sign as a DP. Perhaps I am missing a step I must go through to locate him/request funds etc, as Assistant Managers cannot scout and I cannot offer the players a DP contract :/
