Having played 2 1/2 seasons now with Hartlepool the main thing that ive found is that momentum and player moral seems to be more important than ever in this edition of FM.

Having romped home to the league title in league 2, then 2nd place 4 points behind 1st in League 1 and currently sitting 3rd in championship my 1st XI still have 5/6 of my original Hartlepool players. I haven't spent a penny, signing free transfers and loans. They might not have the best star ratings but they perform for me week in week out.

building up players confidence then stroking their egos when playing well seems to work a treat.

How do you raise the morale of players who are playing badly? In FM13 telling them their last match was bad or that their form is bad would often raise their morale. However in FM14 this no longer has the desired effect and more often than not makes it worse.

I actually do the opposite, I praise them, saying hope ur form continues to improve, they often disagree then I reply with sumthin like I look forward to seeing more from them.

Depends on the player. Some need the tough treatment by criticizing their poor form. With other players you need to reassure them that you have faith in them when playing poorly.
