It was announced earlier this season that only a third of players in the Premier League are English. Consequently, I have been inspired to take on a challenge to take a side in this league to the top, trying to get English players in the process. Initially this will prove difficult to say the least, as there will be a vast number of foreign players who may be hard to sell, and it also could be hard to buy replacement English players for a reasonable sum.

Due to this, although my aim is to end up of mostly English team, I am going to allow myself to buy foreigners when needed (i.e if I need a left back and my English one is suspended)

I have chosen the club with what I feel have the best youth facilities in the league, Southampton, so that I can develop the amazing pool of English talent they have.

My reasoning for changing the strict rules of the save are that I began initially with the plan of only purchasing English players, but it was impossible - my £35.5m budget wouldnt even stretch much. A new feature of the save is that there will be a 'cap' on non UK players, and only 3 allowed.

Thanks and enjoy my English rise to the top!!

Ive done this but in a different way

I started normally with Brighton first season in Championship, signed some English, some foreign, got promoted first season and now I am in the Premiership, My main focus has been on English players, mainly youngsters who will be the clubs future for years to come and also got some nice experienced players in first season in Prem (Barton, Crouch, Bent) and look certain now to stay up so the foreigners that are in my side I will be looking to get rid of at end of season....even in my first season, most of the time the squad is English so will keep an eye on this :)

That comment makes me realise that maybe I am limiting my options too much by only signing English players, and I have chosen to now yes focus on English players, yet also sign foreign when needed

Why don't you have a cap of how many foreign players you can have in your squad?

OK, so it went from the UKIP Challenge to the Tory Challenge. Still interesting, though. ;)

I would say limit yourself to 3 non-UK players. That should still be somewhat challenging.

I like that idea - it's a deal 3 non UK players in the squad
