Hi after the patch where defender Can defend now i want to make a strong defensive tactic with Chelsea where i play Like Mourinho's Chelsea in the old days.

Im playing 4-3-3 with a defensive midfielder

im currently playing rigid with control on playing a deep defensive Line with direct play.
My backs are fullbacks with support on
and my CB are central defender with defend
with a DMC as Anchorman to defender my backline

Any suggestions what Else to do to perfect the d?fense and dont concede alot?

Try using half back, it balances the team in some cases !!!

I'd like to create or see created his 2004 CL winning Porto tactic.

As far his record breaking Chelsea tactic..how about this as a starting point?

Philosophy: Direct, Counter-Attacking style (Rigid + Counter)

GK: Goalkeeper (Defend)
DR: Full Back (Auto)
DCr: Limited Defender (Stopper)
DCl: Central Defender (Defend)
DL: Full Back (Auto)
DM: Anchor Man (Defend)
MCr: Ball-Winning Midfielder (Support)
MCl: Central Midfielder (Attack)
AMR: Inside Forward (Attack)
AML Inside Forward (Attack)
ST: Target Man (Support)

Possession:
-more direct passing
-pass into space
-float crosses
-run at defence

Penetration:
-exploit the flanks

Shape:
-play narrower
-drop deeper

Defending:
-stand off opponents
-get stuck in

General:
-much higher tempo
-be more expressive

I'm not an expert but this is my opinion based on my research. I would love to get an experts opinion on this and help improve. I havent tried this tactic yet. Just a theory for now.

MCc: Ball-Winning Midfielder (Defend)
MCl: Box-to-Box Midfielder (Support)
AMC: Advanced Playmaker (Attack)
STl: Deep Lying Forward (Support)
STr: Advanced Forward (Attack)

Possession:
-float crosses

-stick to positions

Defending:
-hassle opponents
-use tighter marking
-use off-side trap

General:

Don't forget to be a complete jerk in press conferences too. xD

Ahhhh. That's a "Calamity", mate;). Can post your tactics, eh?

here u are mate, keep in mind it is very early doors testing and obviously wasnt that great for europe.
there are no set pieces set up as it is best to ensure the tactic is working in open play before adding set piece goals :D
maybe you can tweak it and get it right hehe

Will test this, mate. Gonna use this with a physical team:). I admired the Germans and Chelsea for their physicality a few years back(So Ballack is my fav). The Germans are just superb now, though. But I feel Chelsea are losing their plot because they are in pursuit of "sexy" football.

haha true, I did enjoy the physicality of the old school chelsea, makalele was a machine aswell

Not really, if Roman still was going for beautiful football, he wouldn't have hired Jose, who's master at grinding results by Counter-attacking.

I will test this tactic using montarras research. Will let u know how I get on. Using rangers in SPL.
