My Beloved Gas

[Dave Haskins]

Brand new to FM2010 and haven't played games like this since CM3 but it was on sale in HMV and i fancied it.

Going to start off a season with my favourite football team Bristol Rovers.

I'll post when i can and am excited to see how games have progressed.

I hope that my thread mildly entertains you and if you have any suggestions of how to make them read or appear more attractive then i gratefully receive your feedback.

Before i go onto transfers in and out i will just say that i am not managing anyone else other than the GAS so any transfers in and out are my own choice and my own negotiations. I have my eye on many players that i want to strengthen my squad with and i will look to sell anyone that can get me the credit i need. Probably not the decisions some people have on the game however i wish to gain promotion and i am not that sentimental over current players.

Ha ha i suppose it does seem a bit strange. I'll explain:

The club's official nickname is The Pirates, reflecting the maritime history of Bristol. The local nickname of the club is The Gas, from the gasworks next to Eastville Stadium, their former home.

The friendlies were automatically assigned i assumed and they all looked like lower leagues so i was happy with that. The only one i cancelled was West Ham Reserves the last one before i started the season.

Friendly Results:

Altrincham Away - 2 Nil Win for the GAS
Stafford Away - 6 Nil Win for the GAS
GH Academy Home - 5 Nil Win for the GAS
Nuneaton Away - 8 Nil Win for the GAS (I think i'm dreaming at this point!!)
Chesterfield Away - 1 All Draw (Back down to earth with a bump... They are league 2!!)
Rotherham Home - 3 - 1 Win for the GAS
Hayes and Yeading Away - 3 - 1 Win for the GAS

On the whole a great pre season however i wonder if i will regret not playing some harder opponents when the season kicks off.

AND i'm still looking for a good Left Midfielder.

I have mutually terminated all my staff and replaced with mostly free signings for all coaches and scouts. The only one i got from a club was my assistance manager "Joe Dunne" from Colchester. He seemed to have the stats i was after.

Not the best start to a season where i promised the board promotion. Let's hope the squad are just taking time to gel.

First 5 results:
Leyton Orient Home - 2 Nil Win for the GAS
Colchester Home - 1 Nil Win for the GAS (League Cup)
Stockport Away - 1 Nil Loss for the GAS
Hartlepool Away - Nil Nil Draw
Huddersfield Home - 4 All Draw

Currently lying in 13th Position however still in the League Cup although next match is Blackburn Rovers (yikes!!)

Another shocking 5 matches see's my team in all kinds of trouble. Currently lying 18th in the league with injuries and suspensions having a major impact i think my job in far from secure at Rovers.

Brentford Away - Lost 3-2 (Not great)
Southampton Away - 2 - 1 Win to the GAS
Norwich Away - 2 - 1 Win to the GAS
Southend Away - 1 - 1 After full time GAS win on Pens (JPT)
Southend Away - Lost 3 -1 (Really poor)

Board have already said how disappointed they are with me and i'm currently in 16th awaiting the re-arranged match against Leeds
