Hey, yep im a newbie here but i've been playing this game for years so i figured i'd throw my 50p's worth in.
Right so i've had a scout around and it usually seems like a lot of places are just reposting the same lists. So with that in mind i thought i'd shove my own list on because alot of these guys i've not seen mentioned. Sorry if there's no screen shots and stats, but my material is good so you're not wasting your time having a gander on your game lol (H)
The 4 KEY Argentines you should be buying if you're at a mid level team like i was at Feyenoord.
Everyone knows about Fazio being a tip top bargain CB, but if not conceding goals is your thing you're gonna want to invest in
Gabriel Mercado. Always my first signing, he can play anywhere in defense and trains up well in midfield positions. Unbelievable versatility, 23 years old and starts off at 300k with solid stats that will increase quite a bit.
Somoza and Mercier. Both a li'll long in the tooth at around 30, but both very cheap, experienced and brilliant at DM or Anchor Man roles. Both have the kind of mental stats you need for tough games too. I credit those 2 for getting me past Madrid and Barcelona en route to my CL win with Feyenoord.
In goal, you can't beat Romero or Amelia. Sign Amelia for free in season 2 and get Romero for about 4mil in season 3. Ruddy from Norwich is a total bargain. Enyeama and Vilar still offer the best experienced cheap options. Same with Jarstein.
Espen Ruud, about as solid a RB/RWB as you can get. Stenman is a great LB/LWB although there have been a few games where he hasn't been consistent.
If you have the money, Scott Dann and Gary Cahill make an outstanding CB match up.
Pocognoli and Van Den Borre. Sign both and play them as attacking defensive wingers, you'll not regret it.
If you're short on funds and you need creativity, but you're also short of a tackle in the midfield. Kim Yung Woo. Only thing i've had issue with is his form dipping at the end of his first season, after that he's back to being solid and consistent.
Leroy Fer. Funny player. Develops really well, but interestingly his best roles are either as a supporting ball winner or supporting inside forward.
Nacer Barazite. Often overlooked, but if he gets regular football sitting behind your strikers his teamwork, work rate and other stats will all start climbing very quickly.
Bueno and Soren Larsen. Bueno starts on loan at Derby. He's the new David Villa as far as the game goes. Play as a poacher and he'll give you major rewards for little financial outlay. Same goes for Soren who's often unwanted at Toulouse. Great Target Man or Poacher. Likes the physio too much though. Another option to him may be Malonga.
If you're quick, get to the Eredivise. There's a lot of players you can get without paying over the odds. Brian Ruiz is one, but be quick because Man City usually pinch him for some ridiculous price. Belgium is another with the likes of Biglia, Lukaku and Defour amongst a good few others just waiting for you to snap em up.
One question i would like to ask folk though. What's the deal with Miranda the CB at Santos? He's IMPOSSIBLE to get for a decent price. Any time i go for him i always back off because they're asking for near 20 mil. He has awesome stats, but he's hard to get and im more of a Asene Wenger than a Roberto Mancini when it comes to this game, i like to run a profit so blowing 20 mil on one defender is too excessive for me lol. Still! Why is he so hard to get even when you play a big team?
Finally, one tip which i think any new player needs. Always check the mental stats. Determination, team work, anticipation, work rate, composure, concentration and decisions. If your team is high in these abilities you won't lose many games.
