This is the story of my career as a manager and will follow me through all the ups and downs of management.
I decided to start my Career at a medium-high level and chose to manage At.Madrid I did consider unemployment, but the current economic situation made me thin twice.
First off I would like to say I started this thread to share the joy I have had with this game and I am at the end of my fourth season already so I will now attempt to bring you up to date.

Season 2009/10
My board expected me to qualify for Europe through league participation and gave me a budget of £5,000,000. The squad had reasonable depth and it was an achievable goal.

These were my transfers from my first year in charge

Angel Di Maria was my only summer signing and provided good width from the left
David Beckham bolstered my middle in January and made me a threat from set pieces
Davide Petrucci I signed this young gun for the future
Sami Hyypia was much needed as my centre backs were slacking off in some games
Gabriel Milito was a coup for his price and he became my leading centre back

Here were my results toward the end of the season

I reached the Euro Cup final narrowly losing out to Genoa

This was how the league finished I narrowly missed out on Champions League football but still fulfilled my boards wishes.

Season Summary: I was very happy with my start and reached a final to boot and this long term project had started moving. Forlan, Augero and Maxi Rodriguez were the standout performers.

Season 2010/11
My board expected me to qualify for Europe through league participation and gave me a budget of £25,000,000

Guiza Poacher and good cover for my front line
Brek Shea Played with him on previous versions and was available for free
Rafhael Good young centre back who had been making noise in Brazil
Steven Defour Quality midfielder who improved my engine room
Gabriel Obertan Good young winger one for the future
Yago Good young winger one for the future
Ivan Fatic Good young left back who had decent stats and was playing well

Went well in the league and I qualified for the Champions League.

Season Summary: Was very happy at the prospect of Champions League football and not to disheartened from another season of Euro Cup heartache. Augero, Forlan and Asenjo were standout performers

Season 2011/12
My board expected me to qualify for Europe through league participation and gave me a budget of £40,000,000

Axel Witsel Champions League player of the year and a great young player
Cesar Azpilicueta Great young Spanish right back
Hatem Ben Arfa Signed him to be my Ace up my sleeve
Toni Kroos Immense young German Attacking Midfielder who achieved great stats
Piscu Didn't know much about him jus signed a cheap Spanish centre back to provide cover

Got to Spanish cup final but more heartache and also reached the knockout round of the Champions League

Moved up another place in the league and finished 3rd automatic Champions League.

Season Summary: Was a great season and I knew I was going right because mid season I was offered the vacant Inter Milan post which I declined and at the end of the season I was offered the vacant Man Utd post after Sir Alex retired ( I was chosen to replace the Greatest) but I also declined as my At.Madrid team was still a work in progress. Augero, Kroos and Asenjo were standout performers

Season 2012/13
My board expected a title challenge this season and gave me a budget of £55,000,000

I sold Brek Shea not enough improvement
I had been tracking Robert Soldado for long and I finally had money to buy him but Espanyol also bid and he chose them over me :S, but nevertheless I had to send out a message to everybody to signal my intentions so I blew my budget on David Villa He was top scorer in the league the season before with 50 goals in 38 appearances

AN AMAZING SEASON is all i can say WON THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!!!
Could have won the league as well but defeat to Zaragoza was my downfall untill then I was on top by 3 points.

In the end I ploughed my efforts into the Champions League and ended up 4th

Season Summary: The season in which I lead the way and won the Champions League and after I turned down 2 lucrative job offers is the season my job comes under threat. Go figure. A new chairman came in and wanted to dislodge me but hey the fans spoke and said they loved me. Great Season really looking forward to the next

Well that was the recap of my management career so far see you in the next update

Season 2013/14
First of all I was very excited, but very nervous about this season as winning the Champions League can either make you or break you.

My board expected me to put in another title challenge and handed me a budget of £61,000,000 to do that. I felt happy to have spending power but a little annoyed that it was only a £6million increase from the previous season in which I won nothing.

Sold Gabriel Obertan due to more complaints for first team football and I let Antonio Lopez go at the end of his contract.

Davide Santon A great young player with talent and was available at a cut price since Inter were performing bad
Jack Wilshere Bought him for the right wing a bit expensive but Arsenal play hard ball
Yannis Tafer Good young striker price dropped when Lyon underperformed I snapped him up
Moussa Sissoko Heard this name floating around ''Fm-Base'' and when a scout recommended him I signed him.
Gael Kakuta Tried to sign him while he was at Chelsea but was priced out but since he failed to cement a place at Madrid I snapped him up
Chinedu Obasi Was a great but annoying transfer, he was available at the end of his contract and I offered and accepted when he accepted my offer, but I noticed that my budget went down and when I checked I had to pay £9million in compensation for a 27 year old, but all in all it was cheaper than buying him.

The signing of Pako Ayestaran was probably my best transfer as he was much better at giving logical advice than Santi my previous Assistant Manager

I had another excellent season in terms of cup competitions Won the Spanish Cup, Club World Championship and the Euro Super Cup. Reached the quarters of the CL lost out to my personal most hated enemy Espanyol.
View attachment 15692
The League It was an extremly close call but I dislodged the top two and WON LA LIGA!!!

Season Summary: I won La Liga I was very proud and was unbeaten for a long time so how Madrid came so close baffles me but I won which is the most important thing. I have put off signing a new contract till the end of the season as I am unsure whether I still have the motivation to continue at the club maybe its time to move on....
But one thing is for sure that it was the year of myself and Sergio Aguero

Good read, and you did very well.

Good job on winning the Champions League! I'd like to try top flight management but I'm having to much fun with BSP teams, currently in my second season of Chester!

Love reading stuff like this <)

Great job on winning the CL, Catania must really be doing a great job in Italy to even qualify for the competition!

To be fair, you winning the CL really appeals to players you might wish to buy, so finishing a place lower than the season before really doesn't matter because of what you did in Europe. Next step I guess is to push on and win domestically (always a horrible challenge with Madrid and Barca in the same league) and then, if you haven't had a breakdown by that point... try the BBVA-Champions League double? ;)

Sweet stuff so far brother, keep it going!

Well I don't want to spoil my next end of season update but the bookies tipped Espanyol to win the title so.....check back soon
Your also right about winning the Champions League as everybody who was unhappy either from lack of playing time or frustration at not being allowed to move, all suddenly became happy after our CL triumph.

u have made tremendous achievements with them and you should be proud

Season 2014/15
FIRST OF ALL
At.Madrid forced me out I asked for an wage increase when the time came to renew my contract(even though money is not needed its the principle), they refused so I let my contract run out.
I was out of a job till Janurary when the Juventus Job came on the market and I jumped on it.

Inherited a squad full of players of a very similar mould and no young out and out striker
Sold Palombo he was old and Jankovic just didnt think he vould benefit us.
Neymar - I initially wanted to sign Welliton but he was injured so I snapped up Neymar and he had been great.
Marc Muniesa - Tried to sign him at Madrid but he went to Sevilla so I renewed my interest
Keirrison - Immense on 09 so I thought I would try him out and bolster my slacking forward line.

In Seria A the team was 6th and 17 points off 1st place so I took them to 2nd and 6 points off so it wasnt too bad.
Won the Champions League beating my old At.Madrid team wasnt happy to see individual players play bad but was delighted to get one over on the board. Neymar also got injured in the final for 6 months urgh!

Have been a mini revelation as I won the Champions League, so i'm looking to improve the squad and push for the league next year.

Thanks for reading so far

nice to see that you did well with athletico. can i ask how the tv rights in spain are distributed as i heard that only the top two receive them. anyway, nice switch to juventus. hope you do well :)

Im not sure but I noticed after the first 2 seasons I got a LOT more matches on tv now that you mention that

I've thoroughly enjoyed this mate, a great read and an interesting story. Keep it up!
