born on 5th November 1985 joins Birmingham City after Chris Hughton's sudden and unexpected departure. arrival is a contested one, as a yet unproven manager has been placed in charge and with the board expecting promotion to the premiership with a £2.5m transfer budget, is placed with a dubious task of achieving that.

A dismal end to the pre-season with losses to both QPR and Notts County, should hope that those are just blips in a winning season that should get them promoted. With the addition of numerous players that can hopefully add to Birmingham's attacking force, they were unheard of, with John Fleck and Bressan scoring the only goals.

Throughout the pre-season era a few names popped up that showed skill in front of goal and will hopefully continue to do so throughout the season, with Adam Rooney scoring 4 against Morton and young Nathan Redmond continuous improvement both in-front of goal and off the ball, it seems that both him and Jean Beausejour will be a force to be reckoned with on the wings.

NPower Championship
With the first game of the season coming up quick, Birmingham City's fan base look expectantly on for a confident win from and the team.

Birmingham City Vs Nottingham Forest

With key striker, Nikola Zigic out with a groin strain for about seven weeks, as well as Marlon King, is having to look at his other players to cover for them and with Nottingham Forest favourites to win the game, it is already looking like an uphill struggle for and his boys.

Nottingham Forest 2 - 0 Birmingham City

The first half began and ended with Birmingham City on the backfoot constantly having to fend off Nottingham Forest's advances but Birmingham attempts were in vain as on the 19th Minute, Jonathan Greening scored with a long range shot that managed to curl around the Birmingham Goalkeeper, Boaz Myhill and then 6 minutes later another goal, this time for Ishmael Miller with a close range shot. After receiving a knock from Luke Chambers, Birmingham's Pablo is substituted with Steven Caldwell. Curties Davis, who didn't have the best game of his career, was replaced by Guirane N'Daw.

After having conceding two goals, everyone is wondering whether there is anything can say or do to motivate his team to fightback against this onslaught they are currently receiving.

Throughout the 2nd half, Birmingham City did improve to move the game into the final 3rd of the pitch but with poor finishing, neither team managed to score again. This will have been managerial debut and his first loss and with the Birmingham City fan base already sceptical over his appointment, will need something special to overcome this loss.

League Table

With this loss sees his squad slip to 22nd beating only Crystal Palace and Barnsley on goal difference.

Middlesbrough 0 - 2 Birmingham City
Birmingham being the bookies favourite will be looking to field a strong team against Middlesbrough and even though it is only the second game of the season, if Birmingham win this game, it could propel them to the top of the table where they hope to cement themselves.

The first minute of game saw a goal from Jean Beausejour, with a well timed finish from close to goal, during the first half Birmingham maintained majority of possession creating most of the chances but constantly hitting the woodwork though the like of Curtis Davies and Pablo. Adam Rooney who struggled throughout, was substituted during the half time break for Nile Ranger.

During the second half Middlesbrough brought the game to Birmingham with multiple chances but failed to capitalise on them. It took until injury time until another goal materialised with a diving header from Curtis Davies.

Wade Elliot was given Man of The Match, proving his ability to create goals with two superb assists.

Birmingham City 3 - 2 Ekranas

In a first half, which Birmingham claimed as there own, scoring all three of there goals through Bressan and Sam Vokes.

Bressan who was impressive throughout the game opened the scoring with a deflty executed shot on the 20th minute, Sam Vokes then doubled Birmingham's lead 15 minutes later with another powerful effort from outside the box, Bressan then created his second goal of the game just before the half time whistle.

After the game restarted, with Nathan Redmond in place of Wade Elliot, Birmingham started to lose there touch constantly giving the ball away and misplacing easy shots. Ekranas started crawling back with an effort from Malinauskas on the 79th minute with a shot from the edge of the area. Birmingham then conceded another from Galkauskas in the 88th minute, after this goal, Birmingham went on the defensive, impeding any more approaches upon their goal.

Birmingham City 4 - 1 Doncaster Rovers
George Friend (o.g), Adam Rooney (2), Jean Beausejour - Billy Sharp

Birmingham are currently touted as favourites to win this match against Doncaster and with them currently occupying 23rd, only 1 point separates them from Hull, who are just outside the relegation zone.

Right from the whistle Birmingham took the game to Doncaster, immediately putting them on the defensive with a barrage of shots and runs. George Friend was the first to score, albeit in his own net in the 9 minute mark with calamitous defensive display. Birmingham then maintained their dominance through Adam Rooney and Beausejour, making it four goals to nil.

Birmingham were no where near as dominant during the 2nd half, maybe to protect themselves from a backlash, they nearly suffered during the game against Ekranas, but with the only 1 goal being scored and tha coming from Billy Sharp on the 74th minute with a good close range finish, the game coming to a close at 4-1, Birmingham know they made a good display that they can be proud of.
