Recently Nani and Ronaldo have been compared a lot and how Nani thinks he can be best in the world and play like Ronaldo...What are your views on this? Do you think Nani has what it takes to be as good as Ronaldo? Discuss.

Nani is a suberb player, he has pace skill and the same traits as ronaldo... he can be as good as ronaldo I believe but in saying that he has been under ferguson for awhile, and being a portuguese supporter myself it pains me to say i believe he cant improve all that much.

However if he steps up his final delivery he will rack up even more assists than last year... he would be more suited to being an out and out winger and in that regard try and model himself around simao rather:) he would be true true class then :) Come on Fergie get him out the box more :)

I can see why, He has the pace, flair and ability to create something from nothing just like Ronaldo, give him another year or 2 and some more playing time and i think he will become a beast in the premier league.

Nani has said he dislikes the comparisons to Ronaldo, he wants to be Nani, not the next Ronaldo. They're pretty different players, they just both are tricky Portuguese wingers. As good as Ronaldo? Maybe. He'll certainly have an extremely successful and fruitful career, can be key to United for as long as he wants to.

Nani gets better with every season, I don't think he'll ever be a goal scorer like Ronaldo is though, much more of a creator.

Nani will never be as good as Ronaldo simple as that. He says he wants to be known as Nani and that should be the case.

i only think nani will be a world class player under fergie...and i totally agree with jack..however if i was a defender i would rather face nani then ronaldo because of the all round threat ronaldo brings

Answer me this.. Do you think Ronaldo would have been half the player he is now if Fergie hadn't taken him under his wing?

yes completely...ferguson brings the best out of certain players(rooney and ronaldo) for a modern day example

Apart from both being Portuguese and signed for United from Lisbon I dont see any similarity in their playing style.

Both are wingers but there is a big difference in their playing style. Nani works incredibly hard and helps his fullback.

Now Ronaldo is not even a winger, he is more like a forward. He plays lot centrally than he used to in 2006-07.

he had one of the best delivery records last season, and got the most assists in the league. He doesnt need to model himself around anyone, just keep doing what he is doing

Nani and Ronaldo are wingers, Portuguese and signed for Manchester United from Sporting. Other than that, there aren't many more similarities.

Nani is the creator who chips in with a ~10 goals a season.
Ronaldo is the goalscorer who chips in with ~10 assists a season.

Because they play the same position, played for the same team and both like stepovers doesn't mean they are the same player. Nani won't be as good as Ronaldo, but then again there won't be many people ever who are as good as Ronaldo. He'll be in the elite ever for his exploits along with Messi, Maradona, Eusebio, Pele etc. Nani may be legendary in the future if he keeps developing and performing, but I don't see him ever becoming one of the elite ever.

My opinion though of course.

im not saying hes like ronaldo...im just putting a discussion together as there has recently been a lot of comparisons between them!
