i wonder why does netherland call the netherland?same as the republic of ireland.i have edit the name but when i make a new game the name is still the same.can anybody teach me?

i never bothered using the editor so no idea, but why would you want to change the correct names of those countries in the 1st place?

is it really Netherlands called The Netherlander?and also for south korea they called the dominic republic of korea?correct me if i wrong.

yeah it´s the Netherlands and South Korea is the Republic of Korea while North Korea would be the Democratic People´s Repulic of Korea as far as i know. Those are all the official names, South and North Korea as names are just a simplified version.

ok but why is The Netherlands?why not Netherlands only?this is what i means.the letter word 'the' is make me feel like weird.

dunno, but the corect nme is definately 'The Netherlands'

the correct term is definately the netherlands as holland only accounts for part of the country, it would be like them calling england east anglia, and phil06 is right about the korea's aswell,

yea i found that out last month, Holland is like a county, its like saying UK and Scotland (but a bit differant as scotlands a country)

I come from Netherlands
I come from The Netherlands

The second one sounds better imo

ok tq folks.i change my mind to change the nation name.i hv 2 make a new game since my game corrupted.tq!!:)

it all comes down to grammar in the end. "The" is used before a country name under the following circumstances:
- the name of the country containing the word "of" like The United States of America
- the country being an island (in most cases anyway, there are exceptions to this) example for this would be The Maldives
now in the case of the Netherlands, it is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, just as the Netherlands Antilles and other islands. And because the word "of" comes up the definite article "the" is used here.

That should sort it :P
