Just realised how important it can be to have players in their natural positions.

For example:

If you play Gerrard and Mascherano both as CMs and look at assistant reports, Mascherano will come up as a 3 star player and Gerrard as 3.5-4, but if you push Gerrard into AM and Mascherano back into DM, Masch is a 4 star player and Gerrard 4.5. It makes a lot of difference in games. Some of them are just plain confusing too - Aquilani is described as 'Attacking midfielder (Centre)', but is half a star better in CM than AM. It's always best to check.

I didn't realise this for a long time because the green spot for 'Accomplished' is very nearly the same colour as the one for 'Natural', and you wouldn't assume that the difference between the two would be enough to make Mascherano better than Gerrard anyway.

I'm playing all my players in their natural roles now, and it's a weird narrow looking 4-1-2-2-1, but my team are more effective than ever.

Well obviously it kinda important lol but that is why you can retrain players to positions you feel they would be more effective in XD

in my experience playing a player in an accomplished position will yield performances that are almost as good as if he were playing in his natural one. remember those star ratings are only a judgement from the particular staff member giving you the advice, if that staff member isnt very good then his advice wont be either. So unless your coach/*** man has 20 in judging player ability and potential and 20 in tactical knowledge, motivation, discipline and determiantion, his advice is not 100% accurate.

it is possible to train a player as a 'natural' in a certain position anyway. I played C Ronaldo as a striker and used the position retraining option to train him as a striker also, it took 6 months for him to become natural. have a look at his stats, hes a quality targetman/complete forward.

If a player is at an AI he can train to be natural in other positions, but when I try to teach a player a new position they never become natural and stick at accomplished
