In real life, it is generally easier to aim a cross at the near post than at the far post.

Does this apply to FM as well? If I have a forward running the channels, should I set my wingers up to cross to the near post instead of far post (or anywhere else)? It would be easier for my wingers to successfully put a cross to the near post, and therefore my forward would have a higher probability of scoring.

What do you guys think? And in what situations does anyone set up their wingers to cross to far post or to centre?

It would be easier to put cross to the near, but you also have the keeper there to defend
On the far post its harder to cross but if you do it the keeper will have small chance of making a save

I think it depends if you have a tall striker and their keeper and defenders are good in the air. If your striker is strong and tall crosses to the far post should be ideal, if your striker is fast on the first meters (i think it's agility in english) then first post might be ideal, because your striker comes infront of the defender.

It also depends on what tactic you use . If for example you are using tactics with two strikers putting your wingers to cross to the far post could be very affective trust me on this !

Near post as if you don't get the height needed then there's still a chance a good striker can get a flick on it or put it in with their feet. Too low to the back post and the keeper should mop it up or one of the defenders get on it.

I don't know about FM though.
