Need a Jordan Rhodes replacement...

Long story short... Jordan Rhodes is dire on this game.
He is my favourite player at Blackburn Rovers (I am a Blackburn Rovers fan).
I think his attributes within the game are spot on, however within the game he just can never seem to finish for anything!
He is ridiculously inconsistent as well.
Here are his attributes in 2014:

Now some of you will look at this and think - oh 16 goals in 36 last season, not bad! Well, truth is that about 9 of them came within the last 7 games of the season where he always seems to 'turn himself on'. Again, inconsistency and can be an absolute animal when he's switched on... but unfortunately FM has him turned off for 85% of my season...

I am testing a new tactic which is a 4-3-1-2, where the two of the three midfielders are playmakers who thread an amazing number of chances towards him... but we can have 20+ shots on goal and he'll blast it over or straight at the goalkeeper or simply header a ball far too soft... I don't know what's up with him. I EVEN SIGNED HIS DAD AS A GOALKEEPER COACH LOL, but that hasn't worked either.


I watch Rhodes week in week out at Ewood Park and he is ridiculously clinical! Give him a chance and you can bet your life he will score... his attributes say he will do this too however he just doesn't... I play him in his ideal poacher - attack role... (no idea why my staff have decided he is suddenly more suitable as a DLF)
I've spoken to other people too and we all come to agreement that Rhodes is just absurdly bad on this game.

I've tried googling poacher suggestions and so forth but haven't been overly impressed with some of the players suggested (by looking at their attributes within the game) and I think it's unfair that so many poachers within the game with poor attributes score for fun yet an actual class player like Rhodes is just hated by the match engine for some reason...

So... I need to replace Rhodes... (Josh King is scoring more than Rhodes and King has DIRE mental & technical attributes... is FM becoming a pace-only game like FIFA???)

He was just top score for me in the premiership with cardiff scoring 28 goals, 3rd top scorer in the league, I play him as deep lying forward in a 442
 
Not sure where you're going wrong mate,

I am only half way through the first season on my Blackburn save so maybe its too soon to say but Rhodes is my top scorer by a long way. He is third top scorer in the Championship so far and has the best shots on target ration in the division (over 70%).

I also often play him as a DLF in a 4-4-2 but lately have been playing him as AF with Gomes as the DLF and he has been performing even better with a hattrick first time I put him in that role.

I haven't tried using him as a poacher but on previous saves have found that players in the poaching role can be a bit hit and miss, maybe you should try changing the role you give him?
 
went to arsenal for 20m in my save? must be doing something right haha also what skin you using? sorry its off the topic
 
Jordan Rhodes is good on this...
Ever thought it might just be your tactics?

Try playing him as a DLF with a Poacher next to him.
