Need a little help with Tevez and Defenders.

Alright, i've been starting a save with Man City. Tevez won't score, and my Defenders won't Defend. Here's my formation:

Given
Zabaleta - Lescott - Sakho - Cissokho
Toure
Johnson - Pjanic - Silva
Dzeko - Tevez

I'm a little annoyed that i let in around 1-2 goals every game. I'm only a few games into the season, but it still annoys me. Maybe they should just have some time to gel with the team, i don't know.

I'm presuming you are playing Dzeko as a target man, right? What is Tevez's role?

I would recommend playing Tevez as a trequartista and Dzeko as a target man - attack. Or you could play Tevez as a complete forward.

I play Dzeko as Advanced forward. And he scores ALOT. I play Tevez a Poacher. That's where i always had most Success with him. Gonna try the Trequartista then. He hasn't scored in a single game yet, so it's worth a try.

There is always the option of giving him Instructions in advanced setting on his position role ?

And how do your team play? Short passes,long?
Fluid/rigid?


I dont have much experience with many of the players on that team but lets stick to that formation.
Fluid with short passing.
Counter philosophy.
Toure as an anchor man defend.Dzecko as a yarget man and Tevez as a poacher with ball played to Dzekos head.
Also set Johnson and Silva to cross often and drill crosses for Dzeko.
Play with a deep defensive line and ask Cissokho and Zabaleta to run with the ball down respective flanks.
Also use counterattack.

Not sure if this will suit the team as i never played with City but that kind of formation tends to do well for big clubs.
Give it about 5/6 games before you judge results.

Well, i've never been any good at messing with stuff like that. I usually just give them the roles, if that doesn't work out i'll try something different.

Well, i've been counting pre-season as well.

I instruct them to to short passes, and i set the play to fluid. So that seemed about right.

It worked great with Tevez on my Real Madrid save. But then again, it's a totally different team.

Maybe another reason why you leak 1-2 goals per game is because you are dominated in the middle only having one man in the middle ( not saying you shouldn't play it ) and not only that but in a 4-1-3-2 full backs are usually out of position leaving some space open to exploit since they go forward to deliver crosses etc. Maybe teams catch you on the counter attack ? But anyways in my old city save
I played him as a deep lying forward and I got success in doing that .

Well... They actually do catch me on the counter attack about 90% of the time. But Pjanic is doing way better than most of my Central Midfielders do, and i cba to play him in the Central Midfield, because he's just pure **** there. For me at least.

Trying him as a Target Man at the moment. If that doesn't work, I'm gonna give it a go as a trequartista. I'm gonna get him to score if I'm gonna shove something up his ***!

BTW, I think the reason why he wasn't scoring as a poacher is his pace.
