Need help with my Villa team

Currently having a bit of a problem breaking down teams defenses, my team are keeping possession well though and the defense is reasonably solid, my team is:

Friedel - GK
Luke Young - RB - Full Back - Automatic
Curtis Davies - CB - Defender - Defensive
Richard Dunne - CB - Defender - Defensive
Stephen Warnock - LB - Full Back - Automatic
James Milner - AMR - Winger - Attacking
Steve Sidwell - CM - Wall Winning Midfielder - Defensive
Stilian Petrov - CM - Advanced Playmaker - Support
Ashley Young - AML - Winger - Attacking
John Carew - ST - Deep Lying Forward - Support
Gabby Agbonlahor - ST - Advanced Forward - Attacking

Just wondering what you guys reckon I might change, such as roles and duties, i'm not the most knowledgeable person on this game so even if you could explain why you would change it and what it should achieve it might help me to understand it all a bit more.

Well 1st you should have Carew as an attacking player aswell and maybe get someone as an Attacking Mid. You have got a good team and hope you do well on FM10

maybe put sidwell attackin and petrov defending...i agree make carew more attacking and maybe you need a new signing for the midfield geovanni dos santos or van der vaart may be players that suits you team

I'm in first and it's march '10. I've set my tactics to a
4-1-4-1

set sidders as a central mid with NRC
Petrov as a deep laying playmaker with support
Gabby as a poaher
counter

play carew as a target man - attack
agbonlahor - poacher - attack

this worked very well for me...
