Need some players to solidify my defense

I just finished my 2nd overall season, and first season in the Premiership as Reading. I was lucky enough to have a nice run of form late in the campaign to avoid the drop, and now I'm looking to fix my worst problem: my defense.

What players can you recommend to fix my defense that won't break my bank? You can imagine how small of a transfer budget I'm going to have...I'm going to guess around 5million pounds once my budget is issued to me at the start of the next season...

I'm currently using Lee's tactics that I downloaded from here.

Id recommend Geromel (from Koln) , you could try Mark Beevers starts of at Sheffield Wednesday and sometimes you can get him on the cheap

Geromel already moved to Juve so he's too expensive, but Beevers seems attainable. Thanks! Anyone got any other suggestions?
