Since for a while I've been seeing many asking how to get players to accept lower wages than they initially ask for, I'm putting a video with two examples of how I usually manage to get players to take a 20-30% decrease from their initial demands.

Obviously I don't get that everytime, but I do more often than not.

Not really the best methods to negotiate contract. You just made a slightly better offer each time.. Which everyone does. You didn't take advantage of using appearance/ goal/ TOTY bonuses.. Or any other clauses for that matter i.e Minimum Release Fee. Also, try running down the contract before you offer a new one.. Nothing wrong with waiting until May or June to offer it, it's not like teams are going to be swarming over Wheater and Knight. Personally, I think you were lucky you were negotiating with a nice agent.

Don't mean to be a **** but, there's a lot more to negotiating that what you just did.

Yeah, I was not claiming it to be the best way. Some of the mentioned I just don't want to push overmuch because I'd feel like they'd get to be gamey.

The reason to negotiate that soon with them is not fear of losing them, but wanting to take down their wages.

However, I've seen a lot of "When I negotiate a contract the players never budge in their demands and I end having to offer them the same they asked from the start" so I made that just to show that's not always true and it can be achieved without a greatly detailed method.

Eh, it depends, actually. Sometimes, players play more hardball than agents. I offer them a 'Relegation Release Clause', a 'Team of the Year' Bonus, and a 15 'Goal Bonus' (Non-strikers), and usually it works out alright, where I'm able to reduce players demands by quite a bit. It doesn't exactly work out, however, if multiple teams are trying for the player.

TBH, there's a lot of playing around you can do regarding negotiations and transfer offers. For e.g, I made Schalke an initial offer, plus a small amount 'After 50 Appearances' and a HUGE amount 'After 50 Goals', for Kyriakos Papadopoulous. Needless to say, they accepted. It is rather unlikely, considering he's my BWM, that he's gonna get 50 Goals.

I never include a 'Top Division Relegation Salary Drop' clause thingie, becase that doesn't help, at all. However, If by increasing their salary slightly, I'm able to get a 'Option Contract Extension' Clause, then I happily do it, depending on the players importance for me.

Point is, no contract negotiations aren't extremely idiotic yet. You'll face many cases where it's still too tough to negotiate, but most times, it should work out well.

What I hate about contract negotiations sometimes though, is the wrong information provided. 'A patient negotiator' often grows frustrated after just one re-offer, while a 'realistic negotiator' has out of the world demands..

What I would like to know is how to make players stop asking for insane contracts when nearing the end of their career. Had those problems with both ?zil and Giroud. Giroud was 31, wanted to give him a 2 year extension and he wanted to stay at the club, but he wouldnt accept anything less than 4 years with an insane wage. ?zil was 29 and wanted 5 years, wanted to give him 4 but no way that was happening unless I gave him ?300k wages.
Asked both to fire their agents both accepted, threatened to transfer list them unless they sign a new contract, both wanted to stay and were willing to negotiate. Tried offering a new contract but they stuck with the same demands.
Transfer listed both, both became unhappy and eventually signed with other teams, with worse contracts than I was offering.
Anyone know wtf is wrong?
