Evening,

Every time I try to start a new online game, I receive the message:

"A network connection is required in order to play Football Manager online. Please ensure that you are connected to the internet and steam is online before continuing"

However, I AM online on steam. My friends have also noted that I am online. Despite this, when in-game, it never says "in-game" but rather just says I'm online. Furthermore, I cannot use the in-game shift-tab chat.

However, this doesn't bother me as much as the inability to start a network game does.

Any help is really appreciated.

Cheers,
Aidan

I had this problem yesterday as well and I was googling for ages but couldn't crack it. Then after several restarts I realised the problem was I was starting FM using the desktop / dock shortcut. This meant it was opening without steam and thus couldn't use the Steam overlay in game. If you start steam, then open Football Manager via your steam library, you can use the overlay and it also has access to the online portion of the game.
