Network Game Save Games

Just a small query, if i am playing on a network game and im not hosting it, can i save the save game file to my computer? basically my friend and i havent played a network game in a while and after exams are finished he wants to set a game up. Thing is when he goes on holiday other friends want to carry on playing. I would start it myself but he always has a problem about control bla bla bla. any help?
