I've scoured every thread on similar issues and yet to see any good answers, so please help if you can, or advise if SI have screwed up somehow.
1. I'm trying to set up a 2 player game over a LAN (Not Wireless, but standard Ethernet via Hub and RJ45 cables)
2. This has worked fine for all versions of the game from FM 2005 to FM 2010 and I've played 2 player games this way with my son for the last 5 or more years with very little trouble.
3. The answer is nothing to do with Hamachi!! We don't want to play it over the Internet.
4. Yes, both computers have exactly the same version of game and same patch installed. And the hosting computer is set as "run as server."
5. I've just checked and all is well if I use FM 2010. i.e. If we try same setup in FM 2010 we have no problem getting a 2 player game going.
6. I have noticed that on FM 2010 the Network option on the main menu was used for starting a new network game, or joining a network game.
7. FM 2011 works differently, as this option is not available. The online manual says for the host to start a new game and save it and check the IP address under game status. The other player joins the game and if a server does not appear you have to join by typing in the IP address. When we try this it says "UNABLE TO CONNECT TO SERVER."
As SI have changed the way that you start a multiplayer game and as I've seen no answers that work in any other thread, I'm wondering if SI have screwed up and we need another patch.......or am I doing something wrong?
