A while ago I bought in a new coach to boost the quality of my defensive training. It was 3 star where the rest of my training was around 4 star. So I bought in a new defensive coach with a defensive rating of 18, but when I add him to the training schedule it remains on 3 stars. I thought it might be because my training facilities might not be good enough, but then why would other parts of training be 4 star!

what's the coaches star rating? other stats such as discipline also affect how good a coach is.

What tasks have you set him? If you have set his Defensive training among others, then his workload with the defence isn't going to be as helpful.

it'll be because of his other attributes....i bet he's low on motivating, man management, tactical coaching and/or determination....these are all important attributes to consider too

Coach stars are made up of DDM, plus the relevent stat for the role. In this case defense. So you should look for an average of 15+ in Determination, Discipline, Motivation and Defense for a 4 star coach, and around 17 for a 4.5, 19 for a 5 star. Hope that helps.
