New game failure

Whenever I try to make a new game it just gets up to about a third of the way, then quits 'unexpectedly', which means i cannot make new games obviously. At first, the problem only affected one database, which had the whole of Serie A (top italian league) replaced with made up teams and players, totalling about 20,000 database changes. Now the problem has spread to all databases. Please post help if you know anything. I need help!!!! :'(

Is it disc or steam? If through steam, check file cache. Could possibly be a file corruption

and does any old games still work?
