Hi all, (This is my first post on here!)
I have a question about the requirements/how to get a new stadium built. Firstly, a little bit about my save -
I've just finished the 2022/23 season with Doncaster Rovers, and I've had incredible success with them (best I've ever done on an FM). I've built a really good team utilising regens mainly, and I have got Doncaster to the stage where they are the most reputable team in the world and I've won everything I can possibly win (4 CL's, 5 PRM's, 4 FA's, 2 COC's, 3 CWC's etc.)
So I've got to the stage where I'm getting bored with Doncaster as I'm winning everything and I want to move on to another challenge. However the board WON'T BUILD A NEW STADIUM!! I fear that if I move on without a new stadium having been built Doncaster will go bankrupt and plummet, undoing all my hard work.
The club only loses about net £3 million each month (after taking into account TV revenue, Gate Receipts, Sponsorships etc.) despite £8 million a month wages amongst other costs. I tend to sell a player for decent money (£30-45 Million) per summer to cover these costs, and the club currently has £169 million finances (club is worth £1.17 billion) but I have a staggering £296 million transfer budget and I'm under my wage budget by £900k per week.
The stadium is still the Keepmoat (current stadium in real life) albeit expanded so it holds 20231, and this stadium was built in 2006 (17 years old). My average attendance the past 4 seasons has fluctuated but always stayed within 100 seats of full capacity (away fans maybe?). I get about 10-12 sellouts in the PRM each season, and I always sellout my season ticket allocation (18,258).
HOWEVER, when I go to the board meeting the stadium options are always blanked out and the 'Build New Stadium' option states - 'The club believe that another new stadium should not be built at this time'. I obviously have the demand for a bigger stadium (I made £35 million in merchandise i.e. shirt sales last season) and the following, so it is highly frustrating to me that I don't even get the option of requesting a new stadium!
We're the most reputable team in the world and we only have a 20000 seater stadium? Is it because the current stadium was only build 17 years ago, is my club not big enough/not enough demand or can my finances not support it (unsure how new stadiums are funded on FM)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! And thank you all for your time reading this lengthy post!
