Newbie - Help for aquiring players [Transfers]

Hey guys!

I'm new to the game but it's loads of fun and I'd like to improve my play. Therefore hopefully you could help me out.

I'm running MSV Duisburg on a tight budget (750k /month salary budget) but I'm 1st in Germany's 2. Bundesliga right now. I played my last game before christmas and now would like to aquire new players for winter OR for next season.

I know exactly which players I want (below 25, 3 to 3.5 stars quality and I know which skills they should have). What I don't now is, when and how to approach them.

I want to get them when their contract is over (every player I scouted is running out in 2011) to save transfer budget.

When to approach?

How? Enquiry first? Or is this going directly to the club, which I don't want to extent the contracts of course).

When I'm clicking transfer I've got to invest transfer money, even if I click "end of season". I don't want that.

So if there is someone out there to help me out how to get young talent on the cheap at season's end, it is very much appreciated! :)

1) right click on the player you want to buy as of the 31st December and you can select the option "approach to sign" if the player/agent is interested you will be able to negotiate, of course they will only come in July when their old contract expires

2) if you want to buy players that are not free or transfer listed, never enquire, they come back 95% of the time saying he is not for sale or some exhorbatant fee that is simply ludacrous. offer the club 50% extra of what his current value is, if the reject, 100% and from there go in increments of around 25%

3) for cheap young players I suggest going through this and downloading the shortlist here and asking your assitant to filter out unrealistic targets:

Thank you! Now I recognize that it was because of the date. The 31st december is over and I'm able to approach to sign. Have no budget left though, so I've got to sell some stuff ;)
