well i have tried 4 diffrent tactics 2 from this fourm and 2 from somewhere eles.
have used 4 of my own.

and the same results keep happining. lose lose lose. o win now and again.
struggle to beat middle teams only by 1 goal .
lower teams its draw and top teams im getting beat 3 goals a time.

Im starting to lose faith in the game.
i tried big teams and little teams and its the same results.
maybe its just me but what am i doing wrong!!!!
strikers cant score, **** i even got david villa to see what would happin and he cant score for ****.
im at and end.

well what team are you?
if you are a team that is expected to be in the lower part of the league, the defeats against the top teams are to be expected

man utd for most part.
tried other teams as well where yes i expect top teams to win.
but really its the same what ever team i play.
i think it must be me.

then again last game i played i tried to match everything to the tactic just to see and still to no use

maybe its not the tactics? have you over-recruited, ie bought too many new players too quickly? if so they will need a while to gel, sometimes 8-10 games in the same formation to click into form.

not wanting to prejudge you or anything but loads of people come on here and moan that no tactic works, and then when you ask them they usually only give a tactic 3-4 games before ditching it.

what team are you? give me a list of your best eleven and subs and illl try and find something to suit you, give it at least 8 games, especially if you have bought more than 2 or 3 big names in

How many games in a row have you used one tactic? Don't expect instant results. It usually takes 3-5 games for the team to learn the setup. Also several new signings need time to gel. On one save i brought in 6 new first team players and i didn't get any notable results before November, instead I almost got sacked.

i normaly give it till jan because i know things have to settle in.
And yes i have seen a lot of people complain the same way. and i have never once complained about any of the FM games,
just cant get to grips with 10.
norm buy 2-4 players.
man utd game im playing now i just have david villa to see if it helpped on one of the tactics and to save having a lot of players trying to blend in the squad,

same thing happins again.
so really the squad im using at the moment is the man utd 11 but with villa in

i've quickly learnt in fm 10 you can't simply use plug and play tactics or other people tactics. You need to make your own, or use others as a template and use them to suit the players you have. Also don't under estimate how useful the pre match advice is. If a team struggles aganist 4-5-1, change your formation but keep the same settings apart from the one player you may need to change. (presuming you play 4-4-2 or other variations) Or if a team does well 4-4-2 change or 4-1-3-2.

well everything needs to go through rooney.

deep lying forward with max creativity and attack settings with roam from position set to yes

use villa as an advance/complete forward or a pocher if you just wnat him to concentrate on goals. set his creativity quite low so he doesnt stray from postion and makes goals his priority over build up play (think van nistelrooy, but with pace)

the wings in my opinion are very poor now ronaldo has gone, lookto pick up 2 quality wingers next season. this season concentrate on dominating the centre of the park.

play fletcher as a dm behind a trio of cm', have the central cm as an attacking player (high creativity, wuite attcking, through balls and run from deep max. rotate giggs and scholes in this position, try anderson out too, see what works over the season. the ther 2 centre mids should be balanced between defending and supporting thr attack. use carrick and anderson here (but dont forget about gibson!!)

rio and ferdinad with evans as back up doesnt need much explaining really....

use evra (and fabio) as your wide outlet, mentality quite attacking, run with ball often, run from deep often, creativity quite high.

the right back postion is the problem, you can use rafael as an outlet in a similar way to evra/fabio but hes not as good as his brother and using both full abcks in this way leaves your centre backs exposed. i would use nev/oshea/brown as a defensive full back, not venturing forward too often.

ill load a new file now and private message some screenshots so you can get a complete idea of the tactic i think should work if you like?

hmmm i cant attach any files in a private message so will post the screenshots here.

(berbatov is obviously villa on your game lol...)

the 2 centre backs should be set to the same setting (ive only pictured rio)

anderson and carrick should have the same setting (ive only pictured carrick)

rooney should be set to playmaker. you can opt for a targetman if you want, i would advise villa as either to feet, or mixed.

give this a go for at least 8 games to allow the players to adapt to it. it worked for me with very similar players.

also retrain fletcher to defensive midfield, he adpats within a few weeks, especially if he is playing there week in week out.

i missed flethcer out, heres his plaer instructions

perhaps but i have never done that before and felt as i was helping someone it wouldnt be a good idea to try in case it went wrong

I find about 90% of the time, following the backroom advice for things like tempo and defensive line helps, but you can get games where you just cant get it right.

Just focus on what your doing wrong because you may be changing something that doesn't need changing if that makes sense.

couldn't agree more. since using this i have gone 30 games unbeaten

the problem i find with backroom advice is that you can never satisfy the advisers.

ie they advise to play with a quicker tempo, so you do, only for them to turn around 2 weeks later and say we should take our time to build up an attack etc

I noticed there was no continuity with the match meetings but they do help. You just have to go with whats relevant for each match, i guess. Seems the more effort you put into your tactics, the better your chance is, or at least thats how it should be.

The backroom meetings aren't usually very helpful though, apart from the odd training schedule change and they bring you info on who to scout which of course, only works if you've got good scouts.

they just annoy me, constantly advising me that players shouldnt be taking free kicks or throw ins etc. so i dimiss advice, only for them to say the same thing again 3 weeks later!!!

they do help sometimes but i tend to ignore them unless im preparing for a really big match. ie 'so and so has noticed we dont perform very well against teams with a 4-5-1 formation' and ive got chelsea next who play 4-5-1, then i have a little tweak of my tactics
