View attachment 440115Hello, I was hoping I could get a couple of testers to try out my tactic attempting to recreate how my club, Newcastle, play their football. They've been on a nice run lately IRL, but I'm trying to simulate their lineup and style in FM14. I'm not trying to build a beat-all tactic, but one that is effective and suits their style.

Anyway, the basic shape is a "4-3-3" with an inside forward, a target man, and two advanced playmakers (mostly because of who's on the roster). This lets Ben Arfa freelance like he usually does and lets Cabaye find those holes in the midfield and exploit them. I'm also using Anita as a Regista to offer more up the middle since Cabaye freelances a bit.

The only big signing I made was grabbing Andre-Pierre Gignac in the Jan window for a legit target man on the squad.

Here's what some of the fixtures have looked like (I started using this specific one against Everton):

I do know one flaw out of the gate is set pieces, because I have no earthly clue how to set them up, and that's how a few of the goals have come.

Any feedback would be appreciated, especially on team/player instructions. I'm sure there's some tweaks to make this a more universal tactic.

For training I do tactics/tactics only until it's fluid and then Balanced and Def. Positioning.

The attached thumbnail is what I started out with.

This is the exact type of tactic i was looking for! Have you got a download link for it?

brilliant thread mate, it looks just like the Newcastle tactic to this day except the 2 central defenders should be swapped ( BPD, Limited )

also what iv'e seen in set pieces they usually go for far post towards Willo but iv'e also seen the ball going near post and outside the box where Debuchy volleys it, so maybe left corner near post and right corner far post

it's funny as well mate because i'm sure our beloved Newcastle are after Gignac IRL

Thanks but the one you have linked us has two box 2 box mids which is different to the screen shot, have you uploaded the correct tactic?

Bear in mind we also use a 4-4-2 when ameobi is in the team, so remy as an af alongside the tm? And a bwm in tiote

those attacking CWB put me off slightly, personal preference though, i like my defenders to defend! although wouldn't the attackers benefit more having the TM as a F9, so the IF can slip in and the AP can either through ball it to the IF or pass it to the F9 for those long shots?

Traditionally, yes, though NUFC generally use a TM in Shola Ameobi or Papiss Cisse (even though he's not a TM). They also bring up Santon and Debuchy on the wings with the wingers cutting in.

This is what I was attempting to recreate.
