offline mode

When i try to play the game and i am not online i cant....
it ask me if i want to play in offline mode,i say yes and then there is an error...how is possible to cant play the game when i have instal it and i have the cd in my pc?

Because Steam is lame.

To play in offline mode you must initially be in online mode... Don't ask why, that's just the way it is. Stupid, I know.

You need to be online when you load up Steam, after that you can go into offline mode until you shut down your computer.

first ask me retry connection or go offline mode...i do offline mode...
then 'steam error' could not connect to steam network because of internet connection etc''.......
and then ''the operation cannot complete when steam is offline''......

but if i try offlne why talk to me about internet connection etc....
