OKAN BURUK'S GALATASARAY 2024-25 IN FOOTBALL MANAGER 2024

How to Emulate Okan Buruk's 4-2-3-1 Tactic on Football Manager 2024

Okan Buruk's tactic at Galatasaray is characterized by a solid defense, aggressive pressing, and quick transitions. Here's how you can try to replicate this approach in your Football Manager 2024 save:

Team Instructions

Mentality:
Positive to dominate the game and dictate tempo.

In Possession:

  • Play Out Of Defence:Promotes patient and technical build-up.
    • Fairly wide attacking width. Galatasaray often pushes full-backs high, but wingers tuck in for pressing and defensive doubling, so not excessively wide
    • Pass Into Space: Encourages players to look for through balls for runs.
    • Passing Directness: Shorter. Galatasaray seeks possession and thoughtful build-up.
  • Tempo: Higher. Reflects the intense and aggressive nature of their play.
  • Low crosses: can be effective also with Osimhen and Icardi.
  • Focus Play through the middle to overload the central areas and force opponents out wide.
  • Work the ball into the box: play safe and bring the ball into the box and wait for the right chance.
In Transition:

  • When Possession Lost: Counter-Press. Crucial to replicate their aggression in winning the ball back high up the pitch.
  • When Possession Won: Counter. To exploit spaces after winning the ball.
  • Goalkeeper Distribution: Take short kicks and Distribute to Centre-Backs. Galatasaray likes to build from the back.
Out of Possession:

  • Line of Engagement: Higher . For aggressive pressing in attack.
  • Defensive Line: Much Higher. To compact the team and support the press.
  • Trigger Press: Much More Often. Essential for Galatasaray's aggressive approach.
  • Prevent Short GK distribution
  • Get Stuck In. Reflects their intensity in pressing. Remove if you are getting too many yellow or red cards.
  • Step up More to push the defensive line and catch attackers offside.
  • Trap Outside: to force opponents to play near the flanks, far from the central areas.
Player Roles

Goalkeeper:

  • Goalkeeper - Sweeper Keeper in defense, he helps in building from the back but he avoids stepping up forward too much and plays safer.
Defence:

  • Right-Back/Left-Back: Wing-Backs -Support: they help both in defense and attack.
  • Centre-Backs: Ball Playing Defender - Defend. They have the quality to build from the back.
Midfield:

  • Defensive Midfielder - Right: deep-lying playmaker-Defend: Torreira's role.
  • Defensive Midfielder - Left: Ball Winning Midfielder - Support: mark tighter.
  • Attacking Midfielder- Support: (Mertens). : get further forward, roam from position, move into channels, mark tigther. This role is crucial to create havoc in the opponent's defense when in possession and for leading the press when defending.
Attack:

  • Wingers: both Inside Forwards - Support: sit narrower, mark tighter, mark specific position (the opponent's full-back on the same flank). They are important for pressing and defensive support, but also cut inside to attack.
  • Striker: Advanced Forward - Attack: no instructions.
Results

Won Turkish League and Cup, got knocked out in Champions League Quarter Final by Pep Guardiola's Manchester City
