SAS FOR NORWICH

Tonight Norwich City Football Club chairman Delia Smith has sent shockwaves through the footballing and media world.

The celebrity chef, 72, invited Chris Houghton and Molde manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer into the Norwich boardroom after the Norfolk sides defeat to the Norwegian club.

In a friendly game settled by a goal from Mats Moller Daehli, Smith was seen booing her teams uninspiring style.

Despite being a meaningless game, the events that followed were rather dramatic.

Having arranged for the Molde coach to go to the airport without him, Solskjaer took Smith up on her offer for him to stay in Norwich for a week, as "relaxation", Solskjaer also took her up on the offer of a drink in the boardroom, with Norwich City manager Chris Houghton.

At about seven pm, the trio were seen entering the boardroom and enjoying rather large whiskeys, Smith looking slightly worse for wear.

At around nine o'clock, a sober Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was seen leaving the room and entering the toilet, what followed was a whiskey en fuelled rampage from Smith, where she labelled Houghtons side as "uninspiring rubbish" who "didn't deserve 50p a week, never mind 50 grand".

She also went on to attack Houghtons transfer policy stating "I gave you money for a striker and you signed Ricky van Wolfswinkel who couldn't score in a f*****g brothel, who's next Jimmy ap Bobcatbollocks?"

After this rant, Smith apparently sacked Houghton, and upon walking back into the room, Delia Smith asked Solskjaer "Ole dear, how would you like to manage Norwich City?"

I leaned on my friends at Manchester United for this signing and it is a great one. We lacked the pace and attacking intent on the right wing that Robert Snodgrass gives us on the left.

TOM LEES FROM LEEDS UNITED FOR ?3.6M

A good signing at the back from Leeds. Tom is a great defender who also has a footballing brain, he's a great one for the future.

ALEXANDER BUTTNER FROM MANCHESTER UNITED FOR ?2.1M

Again, I leaned on my friends in Manchester for this signing, we had to battle with Fulham, Newcastle and West Brom for his signature, however I think Giggsy and Fergie influenced the young Dutchmans decision.

GARY O'NEILL FROM QUEENS PARK RANGERS FOR ?2.2M

We needed an experienced head in the middle of the park and hopefully Gary will provide that, he's a top quality midfielder who should be playing at a higher level than the Championship, which he will.

RICHARD DUNNE FROM QUEENS PARK RANGERS FOR ?350K

Again, we needed experience and cover if anyone were to get injured, that's why we signed Irishman Richard Dunne with one and a half hours to go on deadline day.

PRE SEASON

FC Twente 3-0 Norwich City

A poor result against a team similar to ours, probably should have won.

Helmond Sport 3-4 Norwich City
Bennet, Zaha, Van Wolfsinkel, Murphy

That's more like it! An end-to-end game against Helmond Sport where we took my favourite attitude "You score, we score!"

Norwich City 3-0 Zaragoza
OG, Fox, Morris

A good win against a decent Spanish side in Zaragoza

Norwich City 0-1 Velez

Poor is the only word to describe this result, but the performance was decent

Kings Lynn 1-2 Norwich City
Snodgrass (2)

Worrying we only scored two against mediocre opposition, we did put out a weak side, but even so...

Norwich City 1-1 AS Roma
O'Neill

A goal from summer signing Gary O'Neill wrapped up pre season in style

After his first month in the job, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shows no signs of cracking under eccentric chairman Delia Smith, here are his results.

Norwich City have shocked the English football world by defeating Chelsea 4-2 at Carrow Road.

Solskjaers side took the lead in the sixteenth minute through a Sebastian Bassong toe poke after a Jonny Howson corner, Norwich continued to attack and their second came in the sixty seventh minute after Gary O'Neill got clear of the Chelsea defence and crossed the ball into Martin Olsson who volleyed past Petr Cech in the Chelsea goal.

However, 2 minutes later, Chelsea caused Norwich some worries after scoring a goal of their own through Senegalese striker Demba Ba, but Norwich quashed any hopes of a Chelsea revival as Ricky van Wolfswinkel headed home from a Howson cross. Norwich then bagged a fourth, man of the match Jonny Howson scoring a spectacular goal from 25 yards. Demba Ba scored a consolation for Chelsea late on.

Norwich visited Anfield with hopes of an upset in their second game of the season.

Iago Aspas put Liverpool ahead with a volley after Daniel Sturridge hit the post with a speculative effort. Norwich hit back after half time, equalising through Robert Snodgrass after the winger beat Aspas in the box. It took until the ninetieth minute for Norwich to grab another however, after a calamity of errors resulting in a poor clearance from Mignolet, Howson played the ball towards the penalty area, and who popped up? None other than Manchester Unite loanee Wilfried Zaha.

This League Cup game turned into the Jonny Howson show as the Norwich midfielder ran the show from start to finish.

The former England U-21 midfielder set the ball rolling for Norwich in the sixth minute with a half volley from just outside the area, he then scored his second in the 23rd minute, scoring with a speculative effort from way out.

Anthony Forde's goal in the 71st minute worried Norwich for a while but it was too little too late.

NORWICH CITY 1-1 WEST BROM-Carrow Road

A slightly below par performance from Norwich as they took on West Brom at Carrow Road.

After quite a boring first half, West Brom took the lead through a Jonas Olsson header on 55 minutes. However the West Brom lead didn't last long as Dutch striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel scored a half volley fifteen minutes later to draw the match and get a valuable point for Norwich.

Southampton succumbed to defeat today as the rampant Canaries scored five.

Things started brightly for Southampton, youngster Adam Lallana heading home in the first minute, that's as good as it got.

Norwich defeat Swansea at the Liberty Stadium, liberty of a superb solo effort from Robert Snodgrass.

The Scottish winger jinked his way into the Swansea box before finishing clinically past Michel Vorm.

This was one of the few highlights in a game where the two Scandiavian managers styles didn't mix. Laudrup said after the game that his side played "beautiful football", while Norwichs style was ugly and rash, Solskjaer didn't reply to such provocation, but we imagine his mind said something like this.

"What did you say? Can't here you from 1st place"
