A New Manager, A New Start!

Later Today Bradford City chairman Julian Rhodes announced that Peter Taylor had stepped down his role as manager and that Bradford would be looking for a new manager to get them through the coming season. There were many applicants for the job and the most notable was Roy McFarland, the former Bradford City manager and Central Defender. He has expressed his interest in the job ever since Colin Todd was sacked in 2007. Bet 365 gave these as the odds on who may become the new manager at Valley Parade;

Roy McFarland - 3/1
Steve Cotterill - 9/1
Nigel Clough - 15/1
Ian Dowie - 52/1
Paul Jewell 150/1

Neither one of them from that list got the job instead out of the blue came an inexpierienced former Sunday League Manager "Conor". The fans did not know much of this new manager all they new was he was here to do the job. The fans outlined their interest and confidence in this new young manager after Conor gave this statement;

I cant stop smiling, its truly a dream come true to become manager of one of the biggest sides in the football league. Bradford are in the wrong league if you ask me, they have more right to be in the Championship or the Premiership than the likes of Cardiff and Blackpool. I mean what have blackpool ever done in their history? One thing i'm sure of is that i'm here to stay and kick this awsome team back up to the glory of the premiership!
Reporter Simon Parker for the Telegraph and Argus released this statement from Conor earlier "I am already in the transfer kitty for some fresh meat!" This can only mean one thing, that Conor is eager to make an impression and do well.

The Transfer Window Proves busy for Bradford!

After all the press and interviews Conor has finnally settled down well at Valley Parade by bringing in 8 new faces 3 of which are loanees. The star signing Conor has made so far is Revy Rosalia, 26, a left midfielder who has already made
an impact at Valley Parade by putting in some great performances in the pre-season friendlies. On the 9th July 2010 Conor brought in Marcus Haber on loan from West Bromwich Albion who was finding it hard to get into the first team and was stuck in the reserves after singning for West Brom for £50,000 at the beginning of the season.On the 10th July 2010 Conor made a quick sweep for 2 more loanees, Neal Trotman and Danny Hoesen. Trotman, 22, is a keen and eager central defender on loan from Preston and Hoesen, 18, is a young and eager Striker who has all the talent to become the next top striker. Revy Rosalia, 26, signed for The Bantams on the 11th July 2010 on a Free Transfer from Dutch side Baronie, he is regarded as one of the best Left Midfielders and best buy in the NPower League 2. Conor only had to wait another 2 days before snapping up 25 year old Central Defender Jeremy De Magalhaes, capping 2(2) appearances with 1 goal in the pre season friendlies, De Magalhaes is the heart of the Bradford Defence, again signing on a free transfer after he was left without a club after being released by Barnet last season. Followed by young 18 year old Central Defender Lucas Stiklakis who will find it hard to get into the first team this season but surely has a bright future in the Bradford defence. Bradford finally splashed out some money to snap up a new goalkeeper called Alex McCarthy, who has already been named the first choice goalkeeper for the season, signing for just £35,000 and with back up such as Jon McLaughlin and Lloyd Saxton he makes the perfect goalkeeper. Conors latest signing was another free transfer as he brought in fresh back up for Simon Ramsdon at the Right Back position. Andrew Callaghan, 19, will have to prove himself if he wishes to fight for the right back position.

From Right to Wrong to Right!

For the first few weeks of August it seemed as though Bradford were the team to beat in League 2. By securing a 2-1 victory over recently relegated Gillingham of which new loan signing sealed the winner. But however the team suffered an early exit from the League Cup, by a well oiled Nottingham Forest side 1-0. the Bantams battled very hard against the trick trees but Forest just had the edge in the 53rd minute of which Anderson slotted away a decent effort past Mark McCarthy. Conor announced that he wasnt too bothered about the defeat and gave the statement that he would rather concentrate on the league and building the team. Up next was Southend, the first home game of the season and a good start aswell. 12509 fans watched Bradford beat Southend 1-0 the only goal coming from a James Hanson half volley. Following the Southend game bradford would then go on to earn themselves a fantastic start against Burton Albion from Omar Daley scoring 2 goals in the first 4 minutes. It looked as though Burton would be fighting back as Aaron Webster slotted one away on the 54th Minute to bring the game back to 2-1 and possibly give Burton an extra lifeline. But all that seemed fantasy as Bradford showed why they are a top team from a Marcus Haber volley in the 87th Minute. Bradford's League winning streak came to an end on the 22nd of August from only gaining a point in a stalemate 0-0 draw against Bury. Although the perfect start to the season it was turning out to be a distant memory as The Bantams suffered their first league defeat of the season as they were beaten by underdogs Lincoln City in a 2-0 dismall performance at Sincil Bank. But more dismall performances was to follow as Bradford exited yet another competition early by being defeated at Victoria Park 2-1 by Hartlepool United. The misery went on for another 2 defeats of them both being at Valley Parade from the Bantams being defeated 2-1 by local rivals Rotherham United and 1-0 against Shrewsbury Town. Conor was very disapointed in these defeats and couldnt understand what suddenly happed to the team. Macclesfield away was next and after 90 Minutes little did he know but Conor would be celebrating the biggest win of the season so far, as the Bantams bounced back into shape and shoved off outsiders Macclesfield defeating them 6-1 on their own soil. After missing the last 2 games Revy Rosalia showed why he was the bargain of the season by banging in 3 very important goals for Bradford and pushing his team back up the league, Gareth Evans made his return from a 4 week injury by converting a penalty and a volley into crucial goals. Shaun Duff also earned himself his first goal at The Bantams since joining in July.
